'05 Plate - First NCT / MOT results

Hi Guys, need your advice here.

Left her in last week for her first NCT (MOT equivalent in Ireland) and got the following results - suprised to say the least - I'm the 2nd owner - currently approx 100km on the clock - got her with 80km with full service history.

Steering Linkage - Track rod ends - worn - Offside front right
Steering Linkage - Inner Tie Rod End - worn - Nearside front left
Front Suspension - Ball Joints (Bottom) - worn - Nearside front left
Rear Suspension - Axle Bushes - Top Inner - worn - Nearside rear
Rear Suspension - Axle Bushes - Top Inner - worn - Offsideside rear

Any thoughts on whether these failures are par for the course and expected given age / milage or should I have expected them to last longer. What sort of day to day treatment would cause these effects or is that applicable.

Also have a '00 pajero and only needed to get similar items (ball joints / bushes) fixed this year and that's with 150k miles on the clock. So hence was taken by surprise when these faults showed up on the Disco.

Cheers,
Oats.

Those points are the exact same fail items that my old car failed on, at about 120000 miles. Cost a fair amount to fix.

Cheers Gareth - the 120k mile mark was kinda where I was expecting to have to do it - not the 63k mark Sad

60k sounds about right, especially if it has been used off road...

My MOT in 2008 at the local LR dealer had a load of advisories for various worn bushes and the steering rack. This year I took it to a Toyota dealer, and it passed with no problems - and I asked them to check all the bushes and steering rack too! Well worth taking your vehicle somewhere that has no interest in failing it Wink

I got mine done 2 weeks ago for the first time too. I've 59,000 miles on mine, so similar.

Difference is that mine passed first time, but it's had most of the front suspension and some of the back replaced under warranty (steering still vibrates some though at 50 - 70mph!).

Curious about your brake effort readings, mine got 72% and 21% for the parking brake. With the fail limits being 55 and 16%, I'm wondering if these are normal or lower than normal?
