12s socket pin 6 ignition on feed not working
I’m trying to use pin 6 on my 12s socket as a ignition on sense feed to turn my DCDC charger on in my caravan.
I have a separate Anderson plug for the actual 12v feed so not running that via the trailer sockets but I need an ignition sense wire to activate the changer only when the car is running. I have a lithium battery setup in the van which would quickly deplete my car batteries if it was left to draw power without being switched off.
Putting a multimeter across pin 6 on the 12s socket and the central pin I dont get a reading when the engine is on. I get 12v+ on pin 4 as expected.
I have a 2014 D4 (Australia).
I’ve checked all the fuses I can think of which are 48, 54 and 55 and they are all good. I think 54 is the fuse it runs off.
Anything else that might not be allowing that circuit to switch on with the ignition? Any thoughts on what to check next?
Am I missing something with the way the number 6 pin works for it to be supplied voltage?. I would have thought…ignition on..12v on.

Do you get 12v from pin 6 when the engine is actually running, rather than just ignition on.MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

Nothing when the engine is running.
I do get 12v from the permanent pin but nothing on the ignition one. I’m going to check fuse 54 again to see if there is power each side of it and i think there is a relay after that which I’ll find and check as well.

On the D3, in the passenger rear are 2 mini relays.
1 is the wiper (5 pin) the other the ignition supply for trailer. (4 pin)
See if relay clicks when ignition turned on and check for power there

Sorry, realised my profile was showing my old D3. This is on a D4 so no fuses in the rear cubby hole.
Got a few things to check now I’ve seen a wiring diagram.
Check if fuse 54 has power.
Find the trailer relay (not sure where that is) and check it is working.
Check the wiring harness for the 12s socket to see if the red wire is connected and is getting power. Check the 12s socket to see the pin is connected properly.

Cant see any fuses back there but making some progress.
Fuse 54 definitely has power so that fuse is ok. Found the connector in the rear cubby and it only has 2 wires into it on my D4. One is a always on 12v which is working. The other wire has no power when the ignition is on or off. This connects to Pin 6 on the 12s socket (I tested by putting 12v though it and also a resistance test on that wire). The problem appears to be between the fuse and socket. There is a “trailer” relay somewhere in the D4 but not sure where that is. If that relay is not working that would explain the fault. Less likely the wiring would be damaged.
Any idea where the relay for that circuit would be located?

Maybe the relay is the same place as the D3
It’s in a separate loom to the fuses, so could be there regardless of whether you have fuses.
