12V Aux dimensions

Can anyone let me know what the hole dimensions are for the 12V Aux socket in the boot? Or alternatively, is it possible to remove the existing socket without removing the side panel?

I'm having a different connector made up to fit in there but I'd rather not take the whole boot apart and then put it together again just to measure the hole if I don't have to.

Hi Moleshome, it’s a slightly smaller diameter than a standard 12v replacement like the below. They’re a right pain to get out, but if you’re happy to basically destroy the socket a good screwdriver down the side and some Censored will do it.

I replaced mine a duel usb with voltage display (Top left of picture)

So did you have to enlarge the hole to get the socket that you linked in?

Their both close to 25mm, I think I ended up just using a sharp knife to clean the edges a bit to fit the new one. I just popped the garage and found one I’ve taken out and a new one (parts hoarder)

It’s he black plastic part of the old one that fits to the hole.

Not sure on the diameter but to fit an aftermarket outlet you’d need to get the trim off or at least pull the top back to get your hands in to fit the new outlet. The panel is all one piece and is a bit of a pain to get out though.

Thank you both, looking at the Ebay link that says 2.87cm so it sounds as though the hole is slightly less than that.

Andy, does that top bit with the storage bin pop off?

It does come off, but you need to take off the c and d pillar trim ideally.

I fitted an SAE socket on the other side and just drilled it as I was pretty sure nothing was there. If you need to open up the hole a cone cutter is ideal.

It does come off but doesn’t just pop off. I still think you would need to take the whole panel off to do it. From memory, and I’ve been drinking Thumbs Up, I think it’s held on with clips but I still think you’d need to take the panel off to separate the two pieces.

Depends how much access you need. I'm doing this at the moment and to get enough access to wiring
and sockets etc, remove the tailgate wire, pop off the rubber boot seal, then remove the rear boot flap. Lift up the floor for the tool kit and then undo the floor panel at the side, mine had load hooks so undid those and it pulled up with a bit of oomph. Now you can pop off the 3 plastic studs holding on the panel and you can pull it out of the way. Gives good enough access for small jobs.
