18" Standard Rims, But 19" Spare.

Just wondered is it the norm for LR to supply thier spare alloys at a different size to the 4 road wheels?

Bought an 08 and it has 4 x 18 inch alloys, but when i checked the spare, it is branded as a 19 inch.

Just thought what a mess, especially having to buty an odd size tyre. I'd much prefer all 18's??

Would i be within my rights to go back and ask them to exchange the spare?

I would take it back and insist they supply an 18" spare.

I'm assuming it's an alloy wheel and not a spacesaver. If you do get a puncture, at best it's inconvenient because you have swap the original wheel again once the puncture is fixed. At worst, it could be dangerous driving with a mix of wheel sizes.

Is the spare full size or a space saver?
If a space saver 19" is normal, overall diameter (rim + tyre) is the same as 18" either way but if it is full size it should be the same as the others

alan

i have the Type 2 - 10 spoke alloys on mine, and when I had a puncture and used the spare - my son realised it was a Type 1 - 5 spoke (all 18s).

The original dealer told me to source a matching new Type 2 wheel & tyre from a local dealer (as original supplying dealer was 100 miles away) and they would pay in full for the replacement. I got to keep the "spare" spare!

Further evidence that they can and do balls it up - but a good dealer will sort it.

cheers, Tim

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I have the type 2 style, 10 spoke alloys, in 18'S.

The spare is definatly a full size 19".

I will raise the issue with the dealer.

Thank you.
