My 2008 D3 is due its first service very soon. The service is due on a time, not mileage basis. Mileage not yet into 5 figures. Local LR dealer who I have always used is quoting £313 all in, next nearest LR dealer is quoting £330 all in. The local non franchised dealer who is really up to scratch with LRs is quoting £243 using all LR spares and oils. A difference of £70 -£80 is worth considering. Are there any warranty issues with a D3 still in the warranty period. I know that there is legislation saying that any garage can do the work providing that certain rules are followed. Does anyone have any comments, please? Thanks

Independents unless they have the required kit (such as TFC) won't be able to check the diagnostics or install updates to the vehicles systems that might be due, most dealers do this as a matter of routine. Legislation wise you are fine providing original parts are used, Warranty can be compromised if even one part is not OEM so be careful.
It is also worth thinking about resale as you will only be able to claim Full Service History not Full Land Rover Service History, note i am not saying that you should not use an independent, some (see above) are better than the dealers TBH. Just giving you the info to make an informed choice I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.
