United States 2008 LR3 4.4 V8 SE Auto Chawton WhiteLR3
2 New Mods Today

Time to tart up the LR3 a little, and start to make it my own.

Started with with EBN 500041 - Sill Protection Plates

Stainless self adhesive sill guards - come with double sided tape already attached, and cleaning wipes to clean the paintwork before you stick them down.

Downloaded the destructions from the InterWeb here: http://www.ownerinfo.landrover.com/extfree2viewlrprod/index.jsp

First challenge was finding a metric tape measure to position the sills correctly - US tape measures are all Inches!!!!

Finally dug out an old UK one, and used masking tape to mark up the correct position on the US passenger side front sill.

Figured lots of tape and measuring here would prevent fatal cock-ups later on! Big Cry

Note - I did not push the sill plate all the way back under the rubber seal - otherwise it only covers 2/3 of the door sill!

Self adhesive tape - just peel and stick after wiping down the paint with the alcohol wipe provided.

Success!

Now the back door sill...

Make sure you follow the measurements on the LR instructions - it's like IKEA - no words, just crucial little details in the diagrams!

US Drivers side - all done Thumbs Up

Next, it's time for smoked indicators to go with the black and white look of my LR3.

Purchased from FleaBay - easy enough to fit - come with Orange Bulbs (of course)

Looks much better!

Why didn't you get sill plates that cover all the paint ?
Is yours a set of two or four pieces ?

Changing indicators is easy. Push the repeater unit gently forwards on its retaining spring and the rear end can be lifted out. Reverse process to put the new ones in. 30 second job.

Neil Pettersen - This is the 4 plate set from Land Rover - it doesn't cover the sill edge as you can see

There are non oem models on FleaBay that cover the sill edge - but I wanted oem.

I'm thinking that the non LR versions will extend beyond the door seals, potentially allowing water ingress when fording/wading - could be a case of nice sills but wet feet! Big Cry

BlackPerth - as James R says, easy enough to swap out, however...

Be careful how far forward you push the lens unit against it's spring, before lifting out the rear section.

I managed to snap one of the springs in the new FleaBay lamps by over compressing it, and had to send back for replacement! Big Cry

The bulb housing just twists out and is a bayonet lock into the lens unit.

Make sure you insert the new bulbs into the rather flimsy contacts carefully, you can jam it in there and bend the contacts if you're not looking.
