2 x Leisure Battery charging advice

Hi all,

I have got 2 x Brand new 70ah leisure batteries and I have wired them both together (poss to poss, neg to neg Laughing )

I then attached my Ctek MXS 5.0 charger to them.....attaching the comfort charger positive on Battery 1 and the negative on battery 2

I left it charging all night and this morning the charger says that it is fully charged, but the reading on my voltmeter (In my trailer) states 12.6v only - Perhaps this is a good level?

I was expecting more than this, well over 13 volts to be honest, or am I expecting too much?

Is my MXS 5.0 charger not man enough for the job, or should I be connecting the charger to both pos/neg on one battery to get the voltage up?

Thanks in advance

Ctek MXS 5.0 spec says: "up to 160Ah for maintenance" so as long as they had a reasonable charge in the first place then it should be up to it?

I would disconnect the parallel connections and check them individually with a good DVM to see what that says?

Are they wet or AGM type as I think you can get some of the latter leisure type that have no load voltages of <13v when fully charged?
 and theeeeennn......???

Thumbs Up

They are:
Quote:
Halfords Leisure Battery 70 Ah

The Halfords Leisure Battery 70 Ah is a tough construction deep cycle battery that is suitable for use in your caravan, motorhome or even boat.

Startup Power: 450 Amps
AH Value: 70
Reserve Capacity: 130
Bench Charge: 7.0 Amps

It's sealed as well, so I guess AGM?

Will disconnect them now and see what happens - I did a bit of a 'Google' on leisure batteries and 12.6V seems to indicate fully charged Question

Just been out and disconnected the whole thing, removing a section of the Ctek extension cable that looked a "Bit Dodgy" also moved the charger to AGM mode and plugged it all back together.....

It shot up to 12.9v and after a few mins is now up to 13.4v, so it seems that perhaps there was a poor connection in the cable Question

Anyway, all seems well with the world now Thumbs Up
