my wheel in the cradle
I'm running GGAT3 275/45 R20 on the D4 [the extra width to give more rim protection]
But in the cradle I just carry a full sized 19" with standard road tyre [think it's a Pirelli 255/55]
Whilst not an ideal match for an AT tyre, I view this as just a 'get me by' in the event of a puncture.
Resorting to have an AT repaired as soon as possible, then put straight back on the D4.
6 years on and I've never had to use it, so for me this certainly isn't an issue....... always on the road less travelled š§

We did a laning trip a last year and one of the cars was an L322, it had 20ā at3s and one blew out on a rock.
The spare was a different sized 20ā and the car was not happy with it.
We got 2 tyres the next day for the L322 but even on that short time frame and not coving huge mileage, it was showing it wasnāt happy.
Personally, I would have tyres same size from seeing that cars reaction.
For me, I would be buying a swing sway carrier as i want one so it would be a good excuse to get one.. In loving memory of FA54WSK.
Zambezi silver D3 HSE.
Gone but never forgotten.

The reason the car wouldnāt be happy would probably be down to a different rolling radius.
The car would pick that up and put restrictions in place eg restricted performance, not changing up in auto mode.
The rolling radius on my 20s are close to that of the 19s, so for me (and my usage) I donāt see or perceive any issues.
Personally I wouldnāt fancy a swing away carrier, as that would limit my access and usage of the tailgate.
And the wheel slung underneath in the cradle is ideal for me.
But each to their own. ...... always on the road less travelled š§

So Iāve just ordered five new Yokohama Geolander Geo15. 255 50 R20. The tyre shop is going to do a test fit on the spare before fitting the rest.
If alls good then a neighbour is going to buy my take off tyres.
In the meantime, a trip to my motherās in Suffolk required a solution ( the boot was full!)
