2006 tdv6 transmission fault p0741-00

Hi I was towing my 1400kg van up a hill in the weekend and transmission fault popped up in the dash and the car went into limp mode. Pulled over and the code was p0741-00 (torque converter clutch solenoid - circuit performance or stuck off) Turned the car on and off and it drove home ok.

Does this code specifically relate to the solenoids in the valve body or the torque converter itself. The temps are fine and absolutely no shuddering at all. I know that the common consensus is “replace everything” to fix it but has someone successfully replaced the solenoids and fixed the issue.

Thanks

Have you changed the suction seal and the four interface tubes between the mechatronic block and the gearbox housing?
If not, I'd recommend you do that first as a relatively cheap diagnostic elimination, if the transmission oil is fairly new, there's nothing wrong with re-using it should you want to.

Thats a good run if both engine and box are original, trans will be getting tired by now so as FL suggested new tube, bridge and mechantronic seals with fresh fluid and filter.
I have less than half that mileage on mine at 216k klms.

Thanks for that. No the trans hasn’t been worked on other than regular servicing. I’ll talk to my local trans shop and get a price from them. 👍🏻👌🏻
