Been getting this droning noise for a while seems to disappear when car is put into gear. In the video you can hear this and then just the rattle when it’s in gear. This was accompanied by a chirping off the fan belt, I have changed the belt tensioner and that at least seems to have gone away. I still have this other problem though.
The noise and rattle is quite loud in the cab, but harder to hear when outside listening to the engine running.
Steps taken so far:
Changed tensioner as stated above
Checked all other pullys on the serpentine belt and nothing seems to be stiff or squeeky. The only thing I did notice was that the fan clutch was very stiff, the fan did not spin freely for very long. Is this normal?
Has anyone else come across this or have any other thoughts on things to check?
