2009 Disco 4 XS - Issues? |
|
Hi Guys & Gals,
Im a newbie to this forum, Ive recently bought a 2009 D4 XS and have spent many a long night reading a lot of the posts and quite frankly scared myself silly with some of the problems and disasters you guys have had, on the other hand quite a few of you have made me laugh out loud with your responses and comments, seems the camaraderie is alive and kicking.
I will probably make a few of you sigh now with the few points I would like to raise namely:
1. My XS doesn't seem to want me to check the oil - I was told by the dealer that it has no dipstick ( except the one in the driving seat, I know.) there doesn't seem to be an option in the settings to let me do this. Any help?
2. voice activation not working, steering wheel button has no effect.
3. I have read with great interest about B.A.S in North Yorks and they seem to be genuine with a lot of you holding them in high regard, however I was wondering if there was someone down South who could do the LED/ zenon upgrades etc. I live near Portsmouth and a trip to North Yorks looks inevitable if there is no one else closer to home that can be recommended.
I would like to thank anyone in advance for the assistance you can give and I promise my next post will be something more exciting............ like a question about the non returning constromity valves or the dilithium crystal converter?
Thanks Guys. When the only tool you own is a hammer,
every problem begins to look like a nail.

Have a gander in the manual and you will find the instructions for checking the oil level. It is done electroncally and is efficient and accurate (so fasr with mine). Remember to let it stand for ten minutes before checking after warming up.
On the subject of BAS and his facility, PM him and ask when (if) he's coming south this year. I had my work done by him at the Bath and West show which isn't too far from you. (Fitted Xenons and activated a raft of stuff on the display)

On 2...
For the XS, the Voice Activation is not available (despite their being a button) as standard so your car is working 'properly'.
However, Pete can also activate this because all the gubbins are actually installed.
Don't worry, probably the very large majority (myself included) have no problems at all with the D4.
