2010 sat nav update. How to?

How do I get my 2010 HSE sat nav updated? Is it a dealer only software update or is their another option? Likely cost?
If it's loads of £'s I'll probably not bother, but I've driven on a few new roads recently and it got me wondering.
Thanks.

I think that it can only be done at a dealer for my 2010 and there are some posts that suggest that it is not easy (even for the dealer) to do. It involves uploading the maps to the car which can take several hours and seems to fail quite often. I'm sure there is a post somewhere where the car was in the dealer all day and they had to have numerous attempts to get it to load.

I seem to recall that in that case the dealer also tried to charge a whole day's labour for basically connecting a wire to the car and pressing a few buttons............

Sorry don't know about the cost but would be interested in finding out as I'm in the same situation.

Dealer only at the moment I'm afraid

Cost .. Suspect between £150 and £200

It's pretty easy to do once you've done one .. You need to get a licence code ..then LR plug in a hard drive and upload the maps

I used my dealers equiptment and put Eastern European maps on 2 nav screens for a chap in Austria .. No problems at all

Sad Thanks for replies. Really not worth spending £100 plus for an update yet (IMO). The plan is to keep this one for another 3 years or more, so maybe in a couple of years time.

Hey Wiggs

There has been talk that the car needs to be running etc! Can you run me through how you did it? I am going to ask my dealer to try and swap uk maps for Australian ones, it seems they don't know what they are doing Wink

Looking on the LR website it looks like you can purchase a Flash stick to upgrade it about £199 if I remember correctly? Do you still need the dealer to do it?

AFAIK the 2010 can't be done with a flash disk only by dealer with direct connection and downloaded maps from navteq.

When I asked my dealer They told me this :

- £169 for key from LR Shocked
- would need to pay for 1 hour labour
- Total cost £260 Shocked Shocked

Then they told me latest maps were 2011/2012 as they could not get 2012/2013

I that point I gave up Rolling Eyes
Raised it with Liam , as I think the whole policy is bonkers ...
 Cheers Ian

TMC add on possible?

Dear all,

This question is at a slight tangent, but related to the thread; I have a MY12 XS with the SDV6 engine & HDD satnav. The XS did not come with TMC; I am guessing that it lacks both some hardware & appropriate software to deliver TMC info through the sat nav? Does anyone know if it is possible to add on TMC, or upgrade the current satnav to include TMC functionality?

Many thanks....
 Cheers,

Karlos

As is the 2010 sat nav generally. I cannot believe the illogical routes it picks at times. Tonight I have set it to take me to the LRO show tomorrow. Now, from here to there, the best and most logical route is A617 Mansfield to Newark (main road) and then south on the A1. It's by far the quickest, and probably amongst the shortest too. Sat nav wants me to go 1) A60 to Worksop (north!), A57 from there to the A1, or 2) A38 to J28 M1, south to J26, around the Nottingham ring road, and then across to the A1 on the A606, or 3) a variation on the above, going A60 to the Nottingham ring road. It doesn't seem to matter what route preferences that I choose either. The only way to get it to work sensibly seems to be by adding waypoints which somewhat defeats the object.

Or am I missing the obvious? Shocked
