Yes the 1,000,000th Disco was built with black arches and IMHO looks much better for it. If I didn't have black wheels I would have put them on mine. The lighter colours just look so slab sided with everything body coloured. I believe you can still order commercial D4's with black arches, so they're still being made?
Have to agree as well. The black arches makes the car look lighter on it's feet, Thanks for the reply.
ps, I am trying to post a pic of the said cars, but for the love of me cannot figure out how to do it '09 LR3 4.4 HSE Zermatt Silver

Is it the fact that they put on an 'S' front bumper without the spots?
(The badging says HSE on it's own... but that doesn't look right either)

Exactly! The vehicle in the picture above does not appear to have the Bright Pack fitted. We all know that this would have been fitted during the build process......unless my theory of all D4's having a common wiring loom and a lot of things already fitted but simply hidden on lower spec vehicles applies?!
So either the vehicle above was numerically the millionth one down the line, and someone realised it at the time, and the one that went to China is another one altogether, or something strange went on somewhere!!!!
BTW SALLAAAD4CA617299 is the chassis number of VX61CWF, as far as I can ascertain.... maybe someone can do a bit of digging with that! It is a Russian spec vehicle, which I would have thought would have been fairly high spec during the build process....?!2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

They look like totally different cars to me... wrong spec, no privacy glass etc.

Apart from being many models, reckoning it's based on the Commercial with the black plastic arches and also rear bumper .... but specced up to HSE std
edited to add: so it appears even LR aren't convinced on the painted wheelarches ...

Indeed, as can be seen here... (2 white and 2 yellow plates), don't know the difference though
Plate nr VX61CWF, seems on all pics to be the lead vehicle, implying the toughest of them all, or the sitting duck...
or perhaps this can explain it...
anyway, this was in response to the "digging deeper" ... '09 LR3 4.4 HSE Zermatt Silver

All the cars on the expedition looked like identical foreign commercial HSE spec with privacy and extra's. I saw the expedition cars at the Geveva show in March and thought then that they didn't look anything like the promotional material handed out on the stand?
Actually, I've just watched the production line video again and there's some shots which show a white car with body coloured arches supposedly being made as the millionth, so I'm sure there's a lot of poetic PR licence going on here. (The wheels change about 5 times too!

Mind you, having had the (absolute) pleasure of actually seeing the entire T5 line last Monday, the cars do move along surprisingly quickly, I doubt if any film crew or photographer would have been able to follow one single car along the process without it being stopped for quite some time at various points! Don't know how Nick Dimbleby managed it when he followed his D3 HSE a while ago!2016 Discovery 4 Commercial
