hi all , has anyone had any problems with running out of adblue and the car not displaying. My car showed it had 4500 miles left but i have restricted performance and i have just managed to get 18 litres of adblue in my car and the tank only holds 18.7 litres. the car now says it has 19800 miles left which cannot be correct. In diagnostics it shows empty on the adblue tank.
im guessing this is a problem as i still have restricted performance and its shutting dwon
thanks in advance Adrian

The only thing that I an say is that both of mine showed around 19,800 when the tank was full, although it counted down from there at about twice the rate you might hope for, giving around a 9-10,000 mile range, from memory. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!
(One of only two known to exist in the world!)

I think the range is correct if it's full. That;s roughly what I get on mine. I've always seen it go down as I use the car. I did about 7k miles last year and it was on about 8k miles left when it got topped up, so not quite a 1:1 ration of forecast to actual but not bad. Probably depends on the sort of driving you do. That's what I get on mine when full.
Not sure about your restricted performance. Not sure why your diagnostics (IID?) say tank is empty. One thing I would mention is that my nephew recently overfilled his Adblue tank on his Discovery Sport and got similar issues. Ended up taking out 5 litres at the dealers and all fine.
Good luck sorting it.
Cheers Gary

You shouldn’t brim the adblue it can cause issues.

I have already had to drain some Range Rover sport and evoque tanks due to this.
When filling correctly, using SDD, it displays the quantity needed to fill to the correct amount. This should be added, and no more. Sometimes a couple of attempts are needed to get the total amount right.
I suspect that, as this is a bit time consuming, some places don’t do it fully.
I remember reading a service message on Topix stating that dealers should not use the small bottles, as it’s a waste of money, and should use the corrrect filling tank special tool.
Regards
Steve
