It looks promising.

I’ll keep my Velar for another year and see where we go from there.

My concern is LRs comments that it will be the most technically advanced LR to date, or words to that effect. Land Rover, software ain’t your specialty.

I have indeed but I’ve no idea really what brand to replace LR with to be honest. Whatever happens the Velar needs to stay another year at least.

Most on here would probably say the D3 was one of the best products ever to come from JLR, so I'd be happy with a new and improved version (which the D5 isn't)

I’d buy a new & improved D3. It's what I’ve been doing for years now. Whistle Thumbs Up

My 2006 D3 HSE was, for me, the perfect blend of utility and luxury.

D3 best car ever for me personally better than the D4 for us it was the perfect balance of rugged practicality and comfort. If the defender is a new version of the same I will be very pleased and think they will sell a lot.

I sincerely hope the Defender will be a 'stripped' vehicle , no leather or wood, IP67 interior that can be hosed down.

And 4 cylinder 1.5L diesel with compressor and turbo, with extreme low emissions to aovoid taxes...

Then a 2 seater shortbase [cabrio/hardtop], 5 seater closed/pickup, maybe a closed van version...

A ladder frame with a 3-D printed metal body.. Mr. Green

Regarding the D3 comments, if they price it like an early D3 we'll all be buying them. Sadly, They'll probably start at late D4 prices and go up!

If JLR has learned anything lately, they'll realise they are losing the entry level market, something even builders of 'breadbox' cars list a 'naked' version for to attract buyers.. Rolling Eyes

I agree. But I think it will probably be the competitor to the G wagon and at that price point maybe. Hopefully not.

I think it will be more expensive than the D3 was, List price of my current D4 before I negotiated a discount was £66k - List price of my First D3 if I recall was £33k that's half the price however I would guess there was <20% material difference in components between them but I still happily paid it as did many others and Landrover know this unfortunately Rolling Eyes

The comments I've seen have suggested £40k as the starting price. Presumably that'll be for the basic SWB, so likely over £50k for the LWB with a few toys.
