2021 = UK
We usually do a 3,500 - 4,000 circular route around Europe as our main holiday and still have a few 'in the plan' for the future. Given 2021 is unlikely to be 'normal' by September we've decided to stick to UK this year; Scotland.
Will be around 1500 miles I reckon. Got a mix of 'lodges', luxury hotels and budget hotels over 14 nights (SWMBO gets employee rates through her group employer).
We've only 'done' Glasgow and Edinburgh on city breaks previously so will be looking at the more rural aspects this time.
Planning it made me realise just how darn BIG Scotland is and how little we'll actually be seeing, looks like an East coast trip will be in future plans

You and about 50 zillion others! It’s going to be mobbed up here for the “summer”. Re E coast, thinking Fife and up, following the coast to Inverness, you’re not missing anything.
Ducking for cover.

Re face nets, used them in Aus last year but for full sized flies. Re the dreaded midgie, they just see that as a challenge, and once inside somewhere to rest after the feast.

We're going in June and I've warned SWMBO about mozzies, June being the free-for-all of the biting mating female variety.........
Looking forward to Skye as my old man went there once and for a man who showed little emotion he was in awe of the place and 'something' got him as he always named it as one of his favourite places ever....
Unsure whether to take the convertible or the Evoque. Expecting some great roads but not for ripping it up and, as already said, likely will be busy anyway, but just wonder if will get any great benefit from it really.

Be afraid, be very afraid!
Luckily we live in a town in the Heelands that doesn’t have a midgie problem. Go a few miles down the road and it can be absolutely terrible. Brings back memories of caravan holidays in Glenmore campsite where they come out in the trillions!

Oh Yes. Its when the locals have nets on and you think ...... FFS this is not bad compared to where my s/c accommodation is. There are trillions over there.
Skye very busy in the summer but worth a visit. Dont go into the water..... colder than cold.

Exactly, avoid the East coast, Aberdeenshire and the Cairngorms completely, nothing to see there, no history, no castles, no sandy beaches, no mountains and you don't get far more sun than the West coast ... oh yeah... plenty of midges (not) ... send all the tourists to the West coast and leave the open roads to the locals I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

It makes me laugh when explaining to people from the South that when driving to Aberdeen from London, as you cross the border at Carlisle, you're ONLY halfway ! Aberdeen is closer to Norway than it is to London I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!
