265/60 R18 or 265/65 R18

Evening all
I'm purchasing a set of Evo Corse Dakarzero 18" for my 2013 D4.
The tyres I plan to fit are the Falken Wildpeak AT3WA.
Both the above sizes seem to be popular, and the larger appears to cause no rubbing issues.
My question is, is there a good reason to choose one size over the other?

United Kingdom 2016 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 Landmark LE Auto Yulong WhiteDiscovery 4

Hi Richard, I’ve heard reports from some people that the bigger of the two DON’T cause rubbing issues but I can tell you that my 265/60/18 DO indeed rub the wheel arch on full lock in access mode because the 18” Tuffant steelies I have are a slightly different offset to standard wheels. I know this as I also run 255/55/20 on standard alloys with no rub.

I understand that post-2014 models have slightly pronounced chassis horns that can cause rubbing, I’ve also heard of people cutting these back to allow for bigger tyres, having been in a head-on collision and benefitting from the airbag like quality of the chassis horn bursting the tyres I certainly wouldn’t cut them back.

However, rubbing isn’t the only issue. I can fit my 265/60/18 underneath without any trouble over the Adblue tank but I can’t fit the 255/55/20 so wouldn’t expect to be able to fit 265/65/18 either. Most people who have these got for rear swing out carriers.

I hope that helps.

I ran 255/60/18 on my D3 and D4’s. Never felt the need for a larger tyre on or off road. Thumbs Up

Thank you for the input. Feeing my way a little on this. Remaining at 255 might well be the best option. The off-set of the new rims differs from the 511 alloys I currently run.

I run 265/65 R18 BGF KO2 on original rims without rubbing on a 2005 D3.
Winter tyres 255/60 feel smoother and are a better fit for transmission. Still love the BGFs and can't wait for spring Wink
