2.7 valve cover removal

I can see the basics of what needs to be removed but looking at the coolant pipe it looks a right prick to remove, i need to do both sides to check for top end damage.
Any how to's ?

Yeah i saw Mikey mention those but what about the coolant pipe ?, its bolted to a bracket from behind so no way i can get them out and it goes right over the RH cover.

It’s possible to undo them bolts.

Get a spanner in to loosen. Then undo by hand. The joy of working on these body on

You may need to remove the wiring

Hi, by all means, i do not want to be rude.... but that is a rather easy job...

If you do not “see” it straight away.. is removing the valve covers and so, the injectors, the right job for you?

Two hose pliers for each side, a plier for undoing the hose clamps And a small ratchet for undoing 2 bolts from the bracket is all it needs.... that itself is not difficult normally...

The injectors can be far far more difficult if they are stuck, like mine were.... i damaged 3 sets of injector removing tools (laser) because oil and debris were backed between head and injectors, although if everything is very clean there, it is not difficult, but you need to know what you are doing, with feeling and Two right hands..
 Best regards
Harold

I've been working on cars/bike/boats for about 40 years but the access isn't great to get to these parts for removal even with my smallish hands.

Extending the bonnet will help a bit.

A rachet spanner helps with bolts like that with poor access.

Might have to do the engine body surf with a ratchet spanner.

Nice sunny day so decided it was time to tackle the valve covers, what a prick of a job.
Only got the LH cover off to check for damage and found 2 broken cam cap bolts which i was able to wind out with long nose pliers and fingers.
Got the RH one to do then i can assess if its an engine replacement job or not, got my fingers crossed.

Head isn't damaged from what i have found so far, caps are intact bar the 2 bolts and valves appear all straight.

both covers are off and apart from the 2 broken bolts i cant find any other damage, while rotating the just the LH cams i get a loud click which seems to be the chain tensioner popping out.
I thought i had a broken cam follower but they all seem to have a little side to side movement once the cam lobe releases tension, car been sitting for 4 weeks so oil has well and truly drained back to the sump.
