Hello
Over the years has anyone written a program to give the 3 flash indication without the need to have a warning light on the dash? I think it may have been a trailor connection warning light.... Looking to have it coded onto my 2005 D3 HSE 2.7. Huggs.

Yeah you want to flash the IPC07-for-MY05 software. Then you won’t have a red light in the dash.

Please explain, what am I missing here and do I need it?

On the MY05 and MY06 D3, you need to flash the ECU with a GAPIID.
The 3 flash indicator is when you lightly press the indicator stalk the indicator will flash 3 times. Currently it only does a single flash. This can be handy when driving on the motorway for the person following behind you. They are more likely to see your indicator flash 3 times when you are changing lanes rather than once.
The update also adds a clock to the dash panel directly in front of you where the outside temperature is displayed, so that when driving you don't have to glance over to the stereo display.
Thirdly it adds a red symbol that looks like a box with waves lines coming our of it (I think it is a disused symbol for the FBH - we don't have those fitted in NZ, doesn't get as cold here). This red symbol comes on when the sidelights are turned on, or comes on automatically when on Auto lights. This red symbol was replaced in 2007 with the standard sidelights symbol you get on most modern cars, which is green. To get around this with the 2005, 2006 D3's, some have removed their instrument clusters, unsoldered the red LED and replaced it with a green one, and cut out the FBH symbol and replaced with a printed sidelights symbol printed on clear acetate.
With my 06 I have never bothered with the update. I would like to do the full job, but I am not confident enough to remove my instrument cluster and attack it with a soldering iron, I'm likely to stuff it up and end up with a bigger problem. You can opt for the update which adds the 3 flash and clock on dash, but not the red symbol (I think).

I'm intrigued by this, as I did the update on my '05 with the Gap Tool, to get the dash clock and 3-flash indicator, but I don't have the red symbol (either with lights on or FBH running). I did also at the same time change to the Scandinavian setting for the headlights, so I wonder if this is related and a potential solution for those with the red symbol? Previously:

There are 2 software versions you can install. One has the light off, other enables the light function.
Problem for OP is that you need someone with either a gap iid pro (to do the changes you want) or pay £60 to have your VIN added to someone elses.
I just hold the stalk part way for a couple of flashes

Is there a way to have the dash clock as well as the light to tell you that the FBH is running? Previously:

Not with software.
I have shoved a tri coloured led into my dash cluster (behind that icon)
Green hooked upto sidelight switch
Red hooked up to my FBH remote timer
And when both are on, it shines yellow

Thanks, that's interesting. My thinking was that perhaps the most useful would be to have the dash light for the FBH triggered by the FBH fuel pump as that seems the best indicator of a running, functioning FBH that is not in an error state. Previously:
