I strongly believe that this type of attack is based on culturalism, not-so-much racism, and that should be how it is viewed/tackled/referred-to.

And then you have Sinn Féin president Mary Lou McDonald and her 'England out of Ireland' banner... Rolling Eyes

I agree, the words, racism, right wing extremists and others, the list does go on, are so much over used, and have become a much to common phrase which in turn does not reflect the true issue.

Its become an easy way out to justify something that is not the norm.
Every way you turn we have had it, and we still have it in UK politics, if we like it or not.
And Seems to be Tolerated.
Hate preachers in the street, Mary Lou McDonald and DUP, John McDonald, Jeremy Corbyn, Diane Abbott, & some SNP Members. Again the list goes on.
Those not been tolerated.
Tommy Robinson, Enoch Powell, Sir Oswald Mosley's, John Bean. Also the list goes on.

All have direct views that conflict with race & religion in one way or another.
Forgive me but, are we not all to blame, by supporting this in one way or another.
Or is it the same old, its because it suits us at that time.

Food for thought.

Thumbs Up
 Regards
Ray

I am a bit mystified that the 50th victim wasn’t discovered at the time. Surely the emergency services searched both loci even to see whom was alive and needed medical help and those who were dead?

Extreme left and extreme right are as bad as each other - both tend to be filled with people who major on hatred of one type or other. Each is as bad as the Taliban, ISIS or whatever.

What we need is the middle ground. No left, no right, just people getting on with each other.

How can that be possible? That’s like saying you want everyone to be above average. Unfortunately human nature is such that we don’t all populate the middle ground as we always want more than others.

How does wanting more than someone else equate to hating them because they are the "wrong" religion/colour/culture/nationality?

Edit: and thinking about your assertion that we all want more than others, I disagree. There are people who want more than others - the aggressive deal maker types. But I think most people just want them and their immediate circle to have enough to be comfortable/safe. Most people would be happy with a million quid, but some would want more. Some want to have the most but most do not.

The reality of human life is that it is always the minority that affects the majority - both for good and for bad. The minority that always want more, the minority that develops the cures and so on.

Because they see them as a threat. It might be they are taking our jobs, increasing our taxes, taking our land, taking our women the list is endless but are all small seeds from which hatred can occur. I’m sure if your business failed you’d look for a reason? For some that reason is never going to look at them in the mirror and that lets hatred in - it was that lot from the next town, the next country, church, street and so on. Look at the attrosities that happen within gangs. It is not normal to stab or shoot another but gangs do on a near daily basis, no religion or race there.

Why do they? I would suggest that people generally blame the Government for loss of jobs etc. Or at least they did until various media outlets started promulgating the idea that it's the fault of "that lot". Then we have leaders, be that certain politicians, imams, or what have you, that push this hatred narrative for their own ends. Unfortunately, as Goebbels said: a lie told once remains a lie, a lie told a thousand times becomes the truth. The constant xenophobic narrative of a number of UK newspapers is an example. The internet is also full of websites pushing extreme views.

Sadly, in any population you will have individuals/small groups who take these messages on face value and act on them.

And this is how to deal with the issue. No anti-someone-else diatribe, just action to deal with the problem.https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/21/opinion...IswSDyXYic

No giving in to monied lobbiest, just getting on with protecting people.

^^^ In other words, an actual leader, not somebody driven by focus-groups, spin-doctors or newspapers; a leader with personal opinions, an overarching philosophy and the will to get things done.

I don't think we've had one of those since Henry V. Neutral
