5 Year Service Plan
Just dropped of my D4 for its fourth service at the local main dealership to be told the the 5 year service plan has expired as it has done just under 55000 miles.
Apparently there is a cap at 50000 miles. All my details are in the car so I can’t check them. I bought the car privately after it’s first service and have had two more since under the service plan. The car was first registered on 02 January 2016 so very nearly 4 years old now. The original owner paid about £700 for the plan.
Anybody had this problem? I would have thought the plan would be set up for annual / 16000 miles a year as that is the service interval. If I had only done under 10k a year it would still need the filters and oil changes anyway.Disco 4

Doesn't make sense to me, I certainly thought the service plan was for the full 5years at 15K miles

I had a look at this when the folks bought their D4, yep only 50k limit (from vague memory) but that suited them as they typically only do 8k miles a year. Deffo not 15k a year, then you only got 3 services.

Also have the same service plan with a March 2016 registered, had three services, will get a fourth but will lose out on the fifth service due to the mileage as it will be over 50k.

Look on the bright side - buy a Fatty and it’s not even an option.
Buy a Disco and get, dependent on annual mileage, between 3 and 5 services for £700. Even if, like me, you got “just” 3 services, that still good VFM. Get 5 and you’re laughing. If everyone were able to get the full 5 services, they wouldn’t be able afford to sell the policy for £700!2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Just picked the car up from the dealer. With the bill for service SWMBOs Xmas present has reduced to the tune of £650!
It was given a clean bill of health, let’s hope it stays that way for another year. It has not had to go to the dealer for anything, except servicing, in nearly 55000 miles. I have fitted a new set of tyres, new rear brake pads, front pads and discs and a new main battery with information and instructions from this forum so I can’t complain about the car.
We bought the car privately so the transferable service pack was a bonus. Looks like it is time to head back to the independent that I used to use for the D3 when it was out of warranty. The main dealer quoted £230 to change the rear pads, I got them for under £35 from AF and it takes me longer to jack up the car and fit axle stands than fit the pads. Front discs and pads were also from AF. Main dealer wanted £500 to change the battery, so I fitted the best one I could get from a battery specialist for about £180 and the stop start came back to life for the first time in our ownership.Disco 4

There was a big discussion about it in 2016, just after I got mine, pretty bad but still very cheap. It wasn’t immediately obvious when buyingJoined the BMWX5 45e group

Main dealers are forced to have bigger fancier showrooms pushing up overheads by the manufacturers.
The dealership I went to today I also used for my J reg Discovery 1 in the early 1990s. Their ownership has changed several times but still the same site, when it was about 2years old under an approved used warranty. The clutch slave cylinder failed leaking badly and I called in the day before going to France. It was a common problem at the time and the cylinders were on back order.
To get me going again they took the parts of a discovery in the showroom for me. I think that type of eagerness to please has gone now - call Land Rover assistance would be their reaction now.Disco 4

At that point, a slave cylinder is a 10 minute job to remove
Now, its gearbox out. They wont be doing that in the showroom My D3 Build Thread

They don't do a service plan for the D5 - Think they realised how much more they could make by outing them.MY2023 Discovery 5 R-Dynamic 3.0
