65 plate Corsa And clutch issue

Ok question , have Vauxhall Corsa’s got history with clutch failures? Google comes up with clutch judder, just my parents have had to shell out ££££ on a new clutch , flywheel in fact new everything to fix a clutch that has heated up and gone bang !! 22000 miles on the clock . It was my Mums car elderly lady of course but surely you would have to be riding the clutch all the time to do that much damage?? Dad and I reckon it’s a premature failure and of course very hard to prove. They have had corsas for yonks and the first one that’s gone wrong. Might be the last as well !

Not heard of Corsas being prone to anything but timing belt failures if not regularly serviced and oil changed.

Some peps do ride the clutch consistently which doesn’t help the cause. Might be better asking the question on a Corsa forum or at least scanning the site for the problem you were having.

Not a Corsa but.......

https://www.carbuyer.co.uk/news/158148/wat...n-warranty

Brother had vauxhall antara couple yrs back 9k miles 14 months old bang went clutch, vauxhall said it was driver fault so 2.5k repair build later he sold it, bought a Yeti which he still has. No end of similar instances on net.

On another note, lady stuck in snow earlier this yr, slight hill, in a Vauxhall moka, so I moved it out of way, about 20 metres in 2nd gr but that clutch smelled bad after. Saw her later on A4 dead flat road, covered in snow though and once again getting no traction at all, made note avoid Moka at all costs.

Have a look at the clutch pedal rubber and see if the wear on the rubber is excessive as this will indicate if the clutch has been ridden.

Have you seen the clutch plate, cover and flywheel?

If the flywheel has been replaced then something has let go in a big way to score that or a dealer has been a little over zealous.

Not seen it , my Dad had the garage take care off all of it . Did suggest looking at the pedal but not reported back yet. Mum has said a while back there was a smell. Flywheel had cracks apparently, my gut feeling is they have replaced everything for as you say something went badly wrong and they replaced the lot as they really don’t know what it was !!??

Not saying this applies to your parents but only this week I was having a conversation with my mate about wishing we had managed to persuade our elderly parents to switch to auto cars because they get to a certain age and then clutch abused becomes mandatory.

I've even been trying to future proof my wife by suggesting her next car could be an automatic but she's not taking it well! Laughing

Had already suggested that the next car is an auto for my Mum. We will see..... bigger things to worry about at the moment Sad
