Accelerator response issue?

Hello All,

I have my 2008 D3 TDV6 for a couple of months now and the following starts to annoy me.

When I lift my foot of the accelerator the engine revs don't drop immediatly. It takes about 1-2 seconds before the engine slows down. Is this normal for the TDV6?

Mine does just the same. It also has a delay when re-applying the throttle, very annoying on mountain hairpins - you ease off the throttle for the corner and it carries on pushing, you re-apply and get nothing for 1 or 2 secs, then it surges forward.

I am blaming sticking egr's. I'm going to get them blanked remapped, and see if it improves Thumbs Up

Mine has no problem with accelerating, only when I take my foot of the throttle.

I don't see how this can be related to the egr's. Anyone?

Mine comes off the throttle straight away, but theres always a delay when picking up again whilst already moving, Im sure my issue is with the torque convertor.

Jarule - I think the egr's stick open, allowing any boost pressure to bleed straight into the exhaust, hence no acceleration.

I agree it wouldn't cause the running-on symptoms.

Lynall - I hope its not the torque converter - I've had a new one of those (and the rest of the gearbox) and it didn't make any difference...

No one with the same symptoms as mine? Accelerating is ok but running-on when taking the foot off the throttle?

Any inputs?

I have the same problem. I think there are a lot with this problem. Seems like nobody can find the problem. Its not egr related. Those are new on mine. It had something to do with ecu or injectors. Try to put it in neutral when its sticking, revs will drop right away, so ecu somewhere together with gearbox goes wrong. Land rover dealer advised to start replacing the ecu and/or change all injectors. Had one injector replaced after some pressure fault, didn’t make a difference. Still sticking throttle..
