you probably need something like this to connect to the bulb.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2pcs-H8-H11-BUL...d17305fa3e

Don't know how you hold the bulb in.

Yes you need to enable 2 cornering lights in CCF

Clarity H8 bulbs

Ok I think I get it. The bulb assm has tabs (i.e. H8-35w bulb) is per say the socket. The bulb assm has three tabs around the diameter of the right angle "socket" that would "tab in" to the back of the headlight itself, just like the main beam, etc.

Thx Peter you have cleared up this by confirming the plug. I will have a look when I get the headlight out but others photos showing the back of the cornering light has confirmed it I believe.

Also worth checking you have the red wire in the vehicle loom at the headlamp plug. It gives the feed to the cornering lamps. If no red wire to pin 4 on the plug that fits into the headlamp unit there will be no feed so lights no worky.

now I think about it.

The bulb goes into the 3 cutouts, you then twist it slightly and it locks in

No pin on HL

So I do have the red wire on #4 pin, however the plug in the headlight unit itself is not there. The ground pin #9 IIRC is there but no pin on position #4 that would power the light on the headlight itself.
I did find the whole connector the 16 way plug CON-466 from Simtek, however shipping may be too high for me to make this feasible.I have an email to their sales department, but if the shipping is to high then oh well. Not paying $100 for basically two little pins.
IF someone has a part number for just the #4 pin that is in the headlight connector itself of the type of pin, I might be able to find them, however I doubt that anyone had to go that deep as the connector plug is available on that side of the pond.
Guess I could drill a hole through both connectors and run a Jerry wire up situation, but it would be crap and for just this small return why bother.

Any other ideas for getting power to the corner lights would be appreciated.

TE Amp Pin

What do you guys think?

https://www.delcity.net/store/Superseal-Co...6.h_912188

they also have delphi connectors.
I guess some "cypherin'" is needed. That's redneck for measuring and thinking about math and what not. LOL.

Think I will just order up a bunch and see if it fits.

I like the idea of this, but really don't want to separate my headlights again...
I noticed on some cars the fogs are used as cornering lights, any thoughts on wiring these or has anyone already tried this?

you would need a 5 pin relay on both sides. (and check the red wire is fitted )

The landrover corner lights are correctly angled to light the corners though

Cornering Light Mod

So I am attempting at least this mod this weekend. I have bigger plans but for now I just need to know if when you guys did this, what ground wire did you use. I know that wire #9 is the dipped beam and cornering ground, which I have obviously, however to the best of my knowledge that is one wire going to the xenons thru the plug/pin plug. I have the ability, hopefully the parts and skill to add a separate wire into the supply plug and into the pin plug on the light unit.
Should I run a separate wire or tie into the dipped beam/Cornering light (CL) ground wire? Question is there a signal that needs to be there for the CL's on the #9 pin?

I guess I need to know if a separate ground wire is OK to use vice tying into the combo dipped beam/cornering light ground wire on the #9 pin out in the headlight unit.

I will be doing some DRL's as well soon, so if I can run the ground CL on separate ground I can use that ground wire for the DRL LED's as well by making up a split wire inside the unit

I think pin 16 would normally be the corning lamp ground, there is nothing special about this ground though.

If it was me, I would probably use pin 1 ground, which is for the side lamps/markers.

I have done this mod.
I removed the dummy bulbs by cutting/melting with a soldering iron hot knife attachment and pulling out the bits before they had a chance to fall to the wrong side of the reflector.
Quite an easy mod if you have the necessary red wire already there.

I have all the bits ready to do this mod, I just thought it would be impossible to get the dummy plug out from the back without splitting the lights... and that seemed like a hassle too far.

is it relatively easy to melt the blanks and get them out through the back ?

Thanks

I found it quite easy to melt the dummies into three bits and take them out backwards. Just be careful not to damage the headlamp housing.
I used an Iroda gas soldering iron with a hot knife attachment but it could be done with a small kitchen knife and a hot flame to heat the knife. Best not to use the best silver.
