Advice on adding Dr Tranny to my autobox

Hi all
Read some interesting posts on here about Dr Tranny's Autobox Treatment so I thought I'd give it a try to stop the occasional judder I've got on my autobox.

I've got a couple of tubes of it & given it's so cold outside at the moment I wondered about getting the car warmed up a bit, stopping the engine & disconnecting the gearbox oil cooler pipe from the oil cooler (as shown by Filo's really useful article http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic55010.html) & squirting Dr Tranny's magic fluid down the pipe, connecting it back up again to see what happens (so many euphemisms, so little time Razz ).

Any thoughts on this or should I wait until I can get under it and get to the filler plug & squit it in there?

Cheers
Marcus

No need to go under car. Disconnect the pipe that is pointed out in the link. Only a few drips of oil will come out. squirt in the tube of additive and it will drain back down the pipe. Only use one tube, more than that should not be needed.

Well I put additive in this morning (took a good 30mins to drip it in using this idea, but it went in non the less). I've not been far yet, but so far the results are encouraging - there's one litte pull off a main road onto a side road, that often made the judder appear & I've tried it twice today & nothing so fingers crossed Very Happy Very Happy

I tried dripping it into the outlet hose and found it fruitless.

I'm going to put it into the filler hole on the gearbox itself. Anyone have any idea what type and size of tool I need to undo it? I'd go check but my driveway is still snowed over and don't fancy being under the car any longer than I have to.

Cheers

Your warning reads well with kav1187's comment :-

Off Topic Evil or Very Mad

Well now I've got a numb Censored Shocked So much for trying to fill it from underneath in the cold.

I resorted to trying to fill it from the outlet hose again. The level wasn't going down so I tried blowing down the pipe to force it through. At this point the postman turned up and gave me a bewildered look before uncomfortably edging away with his bum against the wall. Not sure what his problem was.

Anyway, giving my outlet hose a BJ didn't seem to work...the fluid just wasn't going through. Is it blocked or do I need to blow harder? My cheeks feel like they're going to split from the pressure Embarassed Snigger
