Advice on removing front seats

How do you remove the front passenger seat? I need to get access to retrieve a mobile phone that has slid under the box of seat electronics and in to an inaccessible void. Laughing Not my phone, belongs to teenage pal of my son and he's whining louder than a faulty EPB.

the whole seat is held by 4 size 40 torx screws if remember correctly
just remove plastic trims around seat corners remove screws and seat is free to move

word of caution it is good to release electrical connector under the seat prior to moving it to be on the safe side

screws HB2 need to come out as per picture

Got some help from my local LR independent on this one. We only took out the four bolts. 60328 may well be retained by a bolt but I think it sits independently of the main seat assembly. Sorry I can't be more precise but I put it all back together before I saw this post.

Well the iPhone has been recovered. Turns out the inaccessible void was the heater vent! So the seat was unbolted and tilted backwards. We made an incision through the carpet to reveal the vent pipe and then opened up the pipe with the blade to reveal the phone. Once removed, a few strips of duct tape to stick the vent back down and a piece on the reverse of the carpet to hold that together. The cut on the carpet is hidden by the seat. Not ideal solution, but the alternative is to remove the carpet and then remove the vent, which is a lot of work and time and inclination were against me.

Would a flexible grabber not have retrieved it?

Spent best part of an hour on the flexi grab but the vent curves downwards and then kicks horizontal. There's only about 15mm clearance, so whilst you can initially grab the phone, once you start easing it round the curve the clearance diminishes and you can no longer pull it through and you lose purchase. There was not enough room to get long nose pliers in either. It was a real pain in the bottom job. It was pure bad luck the phone ended up down there. I guess if you are concerned about it happening in your vehicle you could cover the vent with some pliable mesh? But the chances of anything ending up down there are pretty remote but not impossible.

Oh no! Nightmare. Pleased you got it back for the lad though. Looking on the bright side, you're half a crunchy snack and a nice looking twig better off! Very Happy

Laughing Laughing Laughing Thanks Pedros I was waiting for someone to point out the shabby upkeep! In my defence we are just back from Europe and I've not had the chance to to get the vac on the old girl.

I did crack a similar yarn and chuckled inwardly for a few a minutes at the stunned silence coming from the middle row...
