I struggled with the removal of the 8mm air line and ended up damaging the line too close to the intake. Then trying to remove the air line ruminants, the internal o-ring came out in bits so it was properly seized. Now my challenge is to replace the brass innards of the 8mm port or is this part available?

Hi Ridler,
I couldn't get the part here - its very tough in North America to find metric fittings to create your own solution and this separate part wasn't offered by LR here. Also, old compressors removed are returned for core value so spares weren't to be found at any independent garages. I think I live in the wrong part of the world to find a quick solution so I ended up having a new compressor fitted Stewart

Thanks for the excellent guide, I managed to get my compressor out ok.
After removing it I noticed this empty tube, any ideas what it's for? Just curious!

Ah makes sense! So they vent it into the sound proof enclosure to hide the sound. Thanks!

compressor repair
last year the compressor generated a fault code on our MY2008 D3 - air reservoir filling slowly
checked pipes all seemed ok
ordered a repair kit
bolts to chassis were difficult to remove
one pipe was siezed in, so I cut the pipe
used all the items in the repair kit
drilled out the old push fitting and tapped the hole and inserted a new push fit connector
extended the cut pipe with an inline connector and a piece of airline pipe
replaced the relay too
the mounting bracket was cracked so I ended up ordering a new bracket too
all refitted, works well and fault codes have been cleared
now, the 2005 G4 D3 has a new fault, a few days after passing its CT (french MoT)
Suspension failure and dropped to bump stops
diagnosis shows that the compressor is running (and I can hear it) however air presssure is barely above 0 and the temperature of the pump goes to over 100 degrees C in a few seconds
Ordered a new kit for this pump
Although the supplier lists the kit on ebay France, it will not ship to many countries in Europe including France
On ebay UK it shows seller ships internationaly - however France is one of many countries in Europe on the excluded list to where the seller will ship.
so ordered a kit to be sent to a UK friend who then will send to me
So now I pay UK VAT at 20%, and then customs import duties and French Tax at 19.6%
Brexit I suppose ?
I will update once kit arrives and car is in the workshopMY05 Discovery 3 G4 LRG4C-14 Stage 3 & 4 Bolivia Team Fleet 49

I ordered from Amazon some 8mm and 10mm brass threaded inserts with push on airline connectors to replace the 8mm one I damaged removing it from the compressor body

compressor repair
Received the repair kit on Monday so I stripped my compressor today
cleaned the air dryer and replaced the silica beads and all seals along with the new aluminium end cap
then onto the compressor
found the fault !
The bearing has failed and the piston rod has also broken - not sure which happened first
can you buy repair kits ?
I will need a new piston rod and new bearing

** I've realised that this is a D3 guide, but think my question is still relevant **
I made the most schoolboy error of errors today and inadvertently jacked the car up on the compressor which snapped the compressor bracket. Embarrassed doesn't even come close. It's all still working normally, albeit very loud now.
Does anyone have a part number for the bracket, and do I need to follow the full guide above to replace the bracket, or can I get away without pulling the hoses from the brackets?

Been reading through these 4 pages and it's all good stuff. Mines gave up on its 17th year lol. No history says it's been replaced or regenerated. The original black pipes are uncut into the brass casings. Spent a few hours just getting the bolts off the bottom cover.. At this age its a different beast to the ones at start of the thread 10years ago. I've had to use 2 of the 3 kit captive nuts on the chassis for the cover which I have now put back on. It's too cold to do it all in one go atm but I can get back to this stage in half hour tomorrow weather permitting.
The one question I saw in the thread above which I didn't see answered.. Why should the relay be changed. I'm only refreshing the desiccant and cleaning the exhaust when I get it off. This relay thing and ecu is bothering me a bit. Am I likely to see issues on refit and start up because of this.
Providing what I do is sound repair /service, what's the score with the relay.
I only have an autel so don't know if that's capable of a relay ecu update.
Can an old relay be causing the venting gallery fault by sticking is another thought as to why they are suggested as a swap.
Ive got the kit and endcap upgrade as that's in front of me.
