wheels now cleaned

well, I tried a couple of proprietry wheel cleaners and because the grime / dust was so stuck on (like cement!) this was the result after much soaking and scrubbing ....

so I went indoors looking defeated and SWMBO says "why don't you try THIS, it's great for shifting muck..."

Well I'm game for a laugh so I tested it on a small part of the back of the rim, left it a while then washed it off.
Voila !! a nice shiny bit appears ...

Applied it to all 4 wheels , left the foam on for about an hour, Shocked Shocked

power-washed them off and here is the result

Job done Thumbs Up cost ? around £2.50 Very Happy (full size pics in my gallery)

Nice one John,

I'd recommend you get a good sealant to help clean them off in the future, especially as the Mr Muscle stuff may have taken some of the coating off the wheel.... Wink

Great results though I wouldn't recommend using it on a regular basis. mind you, I would imagine you'll keep them 'relatively' clean anyway now? (except when used off road of course Very Happy )

Good one!
but just a thought - it won't have an adverse effect on the tyre sidewall, will it?

Thats amazing Very Happy . You would never have thought it would have done that. I'm going to try that on SWMBO's old BMW at the weekend.

Maybe you should sign up to that detailing site Rolling with laughter

Bodsy - yes i am gonna get some sealant for them although they're just my 'play in the mud' wheels. It doesn't appear that any of the coating has been removed - can't see any sign of it.

ronp - the tyres are shot to s Censored t - going to be replaced with AT2's - but I have no idea if it would have affected the rubber

Shrinky - eeeeeeeek !! don't tell anyone on detailingworld !! LMAO

Just for info, when I cleaned up my off road wheels, I gave them a polish with Autoglym super resin polish. Now 2 years later, they still jet wash perfectly clean. Baked on brake dust is a thing of the past. I've done the same on the 19's too.

TazDaz: Well I've been putting off the Mr Muscle technique until today when I cracked and bought a can in Tesco. The results are brilliant and with a coat of alloy wax, they are now spotless and sparkle. Thanks for that brilliant top tip. Bow down

TazDaz....

It's been a couple of years since the Mr Muscle trial. Would you care to update us on how the finish on those wheels is like? Did you continue to use it?

Cheers
Moby

Moby - since the initial clean (as per original pics) I haven't needed to use Mr Muscle again as fairly regular cleaning kept them in good nick. There's certainly been no degradation of the finish to the wheels having used it initially.
