Alloy wheels (cleaning) and Off-Road tyres
I now have four x 18" style 1 5-spoke alloys which are going to be my off-raod wheels (looking for a fith too)
First - Although I expect these to get messed-up I would like to clean them up. They have (I think) about 18 months of road / brake dust pretty much baked onto the alloys. Without going out and spending ££££'s on various cleaners etc. can anyone suggest the absolute best solution for cleaning these?
Second - searching on the forum seems to find that Grabber AT2's are the 'tyre of choice' for this size.
Are there any others worth considering? and where should I be looking for the best purchase?
Ronp knows the cheapest place in your area for tyres, they quoted me an amazing price for AT2s which I eventually got price matched locally to me after a lot of haggling. PM him for details.
Land Rover Iceland are packaging a D3 with Cooper STs, which I'm guessing are 275/65/18s, But the speedo (and I'm not talking swimming trunks) will be quite a way out....

tell him i sent you!
I got my Stormers & tyres from him a year ago and just replaced my tyres again with him.
Got my 295/45/20 General Grabber UHP's for £100 all incl.
Today I was chasing him for a price on Cooper STT's 245/70/R17.
Quoted me £75 + Vat = £88.
He's damn cheap and a good guy!!
let me know how you get on.I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.
Just double checked and DG Int quoted me £105 per tyre all inclusive for the AT2s, but that was for 8 tyres. The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.

Taz, if they are offroading wheels, don't worry re keeping them nice. They may well get a bit pranged & scraped so a little muck is not worth worrying about.

DSL - OK I don't want to 'detail' them but they would look a bit better if they started off life clean
Even though they are for off-road I may keep them on between 'close' events

Easiest wheel cleaner to use that is non acid or toxic is P21S wheel gel.
Allow time to eat the dust, aggitate with a brush and rinse off. Once clean, cover them with sealant such as jetseal 109, then the next time your power washer will wheeech the dust off without cleaner solution

I use armorall wheel cleaner, it's non acid and works well.
Also works on clay mud that sticks to spare tyre and rubber bits. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
