Should have been a really exciting day today, it was collection day for my new Disco 4.
However, joy soon turned desperation, disappointment and sadness and all within minutes.
Got up early to empty the old Disco 2 one last time.
Drove down to the dealers to be told that they had a system problem and hadn't been able to tax the car.
No Tax no drive away today.
I wonder if you can imagine the conversation I had with the sales man and the dealer principle?
After all of the explanations, and excuses, I did get to see my new Disco, and had the handover tour from the salesman. Came home with the owners book so have plenty to read before the next attempt to collect the car.
You would have thought, after three months of knowing this day was coming that something so simple as taxing a car could cause so much disappointment. why do the dealers have to wait to the last minute.
I have put a picture of it parked at the back of the dealers in my Gallery if you are interested.
Love your new D4....that will be some jump from a D2.
Question I have to ask is why couldn't have at least phoned you before you set off. or at least given you a demonstrator and taken your D2 in till they could tax it.
It's about time dealers understand the sort of money we spend on these cars.

to be fare they did phone me yesterday, but they seemed to think that they could resolve the problem. They say that a button was missing on the screen that allows them to Tax the car. They said it was logged with Landrover yesterday and that they "hoped" that the problem would be resolved overnight.
When talking to the dealer principle, I left him in no doubt of my thoughts on the performance and level of service I have recieved from the sales force.
I did get him to agree to delivering it home to store in my garage until the Tax was sorted out, but I decided that if I did that I would have to pay for it and all the pressure I can put on the dealer would be lost. This way they only get the money when I am happy.
Oh and yes, quite a jump, my disco 2 is 11 years old and has given me lots of pleasure and very little trouble. Time for a change now though, the Disco 2 is not the car I bought all those years ago.Discovery 4 XS

Not wishing to upset you MLC but I'd ask the dealers why they have stuck your rubbing strips on so high up the doors....
Yours
DG's (09 D3 but height of strips should be same as D4)

Might be a good idea to print off the fitting instructions from the LR website, can't find it as on iPhone. Anyone have the link?? Always better if you can wave a LR piece of paper at them so they can say "didn't know about that."

Thanks All,
I've downloaded the fitting instructions and do some measurements tomorrow to see how far out they are. I'll then see the dealer on Monday.Discovery 4 XS
