Alternator Needed 4.4 V8

Hello,

My battery light came on a few days ago then the Discovery died because of a flat battery. I have taken off the alternator to get it repaired but have been told it's new technology and it can't be fixed.

Has anyone purchased one of these for a V8 Disco, if so how much are they? Or has anyone managed to get the alternator repaired?

Vehicle is a 55 plate with 27k on it. No warranty.

Cheers.

Hi Clarabella,
What information did you have that the alternator was faulty?

Experience on here, and with the age of your battery (assuming that it's the original) is that the battery has "had it".

While there could be many reasons for a flat battery, I suggest that you change the battery before looking further (even the battery test can say a battery is OK when the D3 thinks it's not).

Best of luck,
Peter

Hello Peter,

I wish it was just a battery. I got a new one fitted and the battery light still comes on and off intermitantly. I will get a price today for a new alternator from LR.

Thanks,

Clarabella

Hi Again Clarabella,
I agree that the alternator is a likely suspect. Sad

However, have you noticed a pattern for when the alternator light comes on and extinguishes?

Best Wishes,
Peter
