Altox and Webasto 3 and 83 codes.

A couple of days ago I removed fuse 28 for a few minutes then replaced it and cleared the codes on my phone app. This allowed me to communicate with my Altox and Webasto combo.

Today I tried to start it up using the app and received an error code: "83". Needless to say the Webasto didn't fire up. It was -2 Degrees and I had just under a 1/4 tank of fuel (might be the issue)

I looked up code 83 and it was "flame Failure" and the comment stated that I had a problem if it occurred more than three times. I've never seen this code before and all previous flame failures (usually when I opened the car before the 30 minute heating cycle had finished) has been a code "3". I didn't have the time to try starting it again as I was late for work.

The Car is an 05 plate and the Webasto has never been serviced or cleaned in that time as far as I'm aware.

Any thoughts?

Tried it again and the Webasto fired up and ran for a couple of minutes. I could hear it and smell it but it stopped and the Altox box sent to my phone an 83,2 code.

I'm thinking the exhaust port on the Webasto is blocked? COuld someone point me in the direction of how to take a look at that?

Code 83 is Flame Failure so perhaps that should be your first check? My FBH will not start with less that 1/4 tank and sometimes the needle is just about the 1/4 mark but it will not kick in. Others seem to start just before the low fuel light comes on

Bang on! In my usual paranoia of "it must be bad" I overlooked the obvious - filling up the car with diesel. Remarkably it worked. and lesson learned.

So worth checking before panicking:

(1) Your SIM card has money on it and you can use the Altox App on your phone to get a reply to a system status check.
(2) If you try to start the Webasto and you get an SMS that has code 07 in it (heating unit interlocked) then pull fuse 28 for a couple of minutes, replace it and then clear down the error codes using your Altox App.
(3) Ensure that the outside temperature is below 5 degrees
(4) Ensure that the battery is in good condition and charged
(5) Ensure that the car has over a quarter of a tank of fuel

If none of that works, it's spanner time! Doesn't look too bad to be honest:

Thanks for the help
