I have a Sonos Play:1 in the kitchen, its a few years old

will this work, or is it just new Play:1 that will work with it?

I don't have spotify, I use Apple Music which works on the sonos, will it play this still

i.e. Alexa play my apple music playlist Reggie Reggie Sauce

Alexa won't play Spotify or Apple Music, but the Sonos can play Apple Music though. If you want to stereo pair with another speaker the new Sonos one won't pair with a Play one which I hadn't realised.

Alexa will play Spotify, but it does need to be a premium account.

I've got 2 dots and an echo, waiting for black Friday for another dot, and want a voice enabled firestick too

Alexa won’t play Spotify on the Sonos 1 using voice at the moment, but it is planned apparently.

My understanding is that one can now get Spotify on Sonos One by utilizing both the Spotify & Sonos apps but you can't get Spotifyby by the use of your voice only. I although gather that Sonos will make this available later before year end.

Sonos has also announced that in 2018 it will bring Google Assistant to the speaker along with Alexa. Particulars on how precisely it will work are at present slim however it will have an a variety of benefits including allowing one to sync Sonos One with any Chromecast Audio-connected system in your house.

It's also suggested that similar functionality will be rolled out to other Sonos kit in 2018 - possibly with "add-on" microphones.

My view is "watch this space with interest", but I haven't ordered a Sonos One.

I’ve just regurgitated what is on Engadget, I don’t think Sonos One is worth it due to the lack of being able to create a stereo pair unless you buy another Sonos One. I don’t suppose any of it will integrate with HomeKit though, unless you’re buying something like Lutron which already controls Sonos and is HomeKit compatible.
