Amazon retailers fakes/copies
My daughter asked for a specific branded 'play mat' for my granddaughter and I searched on the exact brand, description and part number on Amazon and up popped a dozen or more sellers/options.
All used the branded 'Fisher Price' goods advert picture (the small picture in the bottom left-hand corner of the Fisher Price box) on the Amazon listing so I went with the quickest delivered at the best price (it wasn't the cheapest as I chose one with 'Prime' delivery option).
What turned up was the one on LH side of picture - whilst very similar it isn't the same and is much smaller yet similar price to the genuine Fisher Price product I immediately reordered.
Contacted seller, stating I felt mis-led and believed they had used false advertising and requested a refund. Got no response so raised a claim with Amazon who have authorised a refund but I have to pay the postage of around £5-6 as there was 'no infringement' and basically saying that I have just decided I don't want it.
Bit miffed TBH

Got to be so so careful now, especially as Amazon promotes itself for buying all your household items - we looked at buying baby products - nappies, milk, wipes etc and it's all available but I couldn't bring myself to do it because you never really know who is manufacturing or supplying, who is quality controlling etc.

Not just Amazon, try eBay and other auction type sites.
There are many ways of unscrupulous traders conning/deceiving unsuspecting customers with goods not meeting UK safety standards/legal requirements etc.
Buyer beware!

On Amazon, I pretty much only buy things that are supplied by Amazon.co.uk directly to guarantee I’m getting what I think I am. I’ve noticed Amazon are not always the cheapest any more but with Prime membership they have become my default option for the convenience.
I’ve also noticed their customer service (which used to be outstanding) is going downhill. A couple of years back, the case above would have been return postage refunded no questions asked.

In cases like this, you'd have been better doing a refund with reason being "not as described" or faulty etc which covers return postage (if it isn't free, then go back and change the reason until it is).
I think you may even be able to cancel the return you've started and re-do it, using the above method.
Alternatively contact Amazon on a chat through the website - I'd suspect the agent will sort a free return for you - the CS is actually really good.
- I cancelled a subscription to prime music that I'd forgotten to cancel after the free trial: the agent refunded 18 months without me asking (I'd actually never used it at all).

Interesting.
I just bought some Valeo Silencio wipers from Amazon.
They turned up in a Valeo box sealed etc, but the wipers do not have Valeo moulded into them like the ones.
It did cross my mind they were fake, but then they did arrive in the Valeo box.

I've also noticed that often on Amazon the photo of the item you're considering is actually a really high resolution rendering and when you get the item it's not actually anywhere near as good quality, poorer quality materials etc. I'm now wary of glossy images on pure white backgrounds.D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

Imported / old stock perhaps?
I watched a (sort of) interesting American video on YouTube about how they deal with returns - Amazon puts a load of similar stuff together, list what there is (sort of) assign a condition to each item and then auction it off.
The guy on the video I saw filled a people mover with electronics that I think he’d paid about $1k for in total - a lot of it was broken (as described) but he did get a few pristine high end computer monitors out of it, and a Nintendo Switch that wasn’t even listed. He seemed pretty happy that he’d made his money back in the value of the stuff that was basically as-new.
