Part number for the kit is here http://disco3.co.uk/wiki/Part_Numbers_-_D3_Common

You will also need to update the software if you're replacing a Hitachi.

You could try site sponsors Advanced Factors or Duckworths.

There are also plenty on eBay. Just be careful you get the full kit if that's what you need rather than just the compressor.

Thanks MikeO, I would imagine the one on mine is the original compressor, have you heard any experiences on the Dunlop model being offered by a few suppliers?

Saw this on Ebay.

Looks like full new kit and a very reasonable price.

Thanks JMack! Have just ordered this for delivery to my local Argos tomorrow.
Will post again when it's all sorted....

Thanks also to everyone who has posted previously on this topic. My 60 amp fuse had blown but even after changing it, the compressor was overheating quickly and only managed to lift the rear about an inch so that's why I have bitten the bullet...! Ouch. Shocked

Have just picked 'Banjo' up from local garage where their Mechanic Rob (ex Land Rover apprentice Thumbs Up Thumbs Up ) had fitted my new AMK. So far it's all fine without the re- programme or the new relay. (Accidentally missing from the kit but being posted on separately).

Observations:

The new pump is noisier
The suspension goes up and down way quicker
No bongs or lights
The rear used to sag overnight but now it's the front...

£99 all in including diagnostics and re-setting air bag light.

Here's the old one after 9 years and 152,000:

Fitted an AMK to MY05 today using this guide. Went on relatively easy and lifted me off bump stops! Haven't cleared fault codes or upgraded software as I don't have the facilities, but now my Amber fault light goes red as soon as I go above 30mph… is that to be expected until the software upgrade is completed??

How long should it take a competent mechanic with all the kit to do this - inc updating the software etc?

Took me about an hour, lying on old cardboard boxes to try and keep me of the wet ground. Rolling Eyes

But that was just fitting the new one as I had removed the old one previously.

Software update/change will be dependent on them having the correct tool to do that.

I'm no competent mechanic, and work with a bunch of tools I've not yet returned to the old man but yeah, less than an hour to get AMK on once old compressor had been removed. Reckon I could get the old one off in less than an hour now I've done one too. Haven't done software upgrade yet, that's Wednesday's job… ill let you know roughly how long that takes once it's done.

Software takes a couple of minutes with an IID tool.

AMk Compressor Kit

Hello All

Another question with regards the brass pipe collets that come with the kit.

My kit has arrived freshly this week from the UK (I'm in Brissy). Within the kit were 4 x brass collets, 2 for which fit the 8mm pipe and 2 fit the 6mm pipe??? Am i suppopsed to use just 1 of the 6mm ones as described to put in the old cut pipe or do they fit into thre new pipes non colar end first???

Has there been a change in kit design which is not reflected in Topix or have they simply put in too many pieces??

Help please!!!

Jase

A big thanks to Disco_Mikey for the guide, finally got round to fitting the new compressor yesterday after reading and re-reading this guide as well as the Land Rover fitting instructions.

Thankfully whoever fitted the previous one didn't fit the top bolt which made the old one easier to remove!

I did have issues trying to fit the bottom cover as I wasn't sure where the thick cables coming out past the valve block should go, ended up squeezing them behind the back of the cover.

I do get quite a loud whoosh on lowering now, is that expected or could a pipe have popped off? >.<

Ok, went out and took the cover off, separated the exhaust connection and pipe and reinserted them, but still getting it. Is this normal? Bit noisier than the old one.
