Can anyone help? when working in the woods I am constantly in and out of the D3 opening and closing gates dropping kit off etc andI tend to leave the engine running or the door open or the side lights on and all I get is the warning chimes coming at me from all areas and when the door is open the chimes ring louder than the engine note . I have managed to stop the seat belt tone as again I do not wear it in the woods,But still have the warning symbol on the dash. I feel going back to a Defender would be a backward step, apart from resale values!!!

take it you havent had kids , and done the shut the mind off to the cot crying attention malarkey? I have enough money to last me the rest of my life.Unless i buy something..
It might not be me hopping in and out to get the forest gates but even if its your passenger you get the seatbelt chimes.
It drives me mad!
Add to that the need to leave the engine running if you need lighting to open a gate etc then there is another annoying lights noise not to mention the key in the ignition noise.
Sometimes I am convinced I can hear a battle between bings and bongs over which should sound first.
I have never forgotten to wear a seat belt and perhaps there needs to be a modification to the software to enable practical use of the vehicle for people who have, since the age of 5, had it drummed into them that a seatbelt must be worn. in the car. I have never forgotten and most people of my generation are the same.
In the UK there is an exemption from the need to wear a seat belt when reversing - but the D3 bongs (or is it bings) away relentlessly anyway.
Another one that got my goat was the auto dipping mirrors - solved by adjusting some setting or other (but it was great - just not when towing - you need to see the trailer and not your rear wheels when towing - a simple software fix I suspect - but unavailable to us for now I guess)
Then there is the auto locking central door locks - what a nuisance. Stope for a gate, let you mate back in, oh... its locked again. Then you've got to remind yourself where the unlock button is.
I know it can be disabled - but surely it should lock after a sensible 25 metres travelled? Or plus 10mph speed - why after 10 meters to get through a gate???
I am enraged at simply typing this - down right annoying, especially as it can be so easily righted with a simply software change!
Bring on Linux for Land Rover and we'll all be prgramming our cars to do what is sensible.

Iona Disko you can use the fob to turn the lights on and off if you program the fob accordingly and the level of dip in the mirrors can be adjusted to suit yourself unless its the issue where it doesnt return to normal after reversing. you have a HSE looking at your details so should be able to do all this yourself without dealer intervention and all covered in this forum

Absurd! Who on earth decided that this would be the way to disable the chime!
Now for the key-in-the-ignition warning chime... Anyone know how to fix this?
It's an old Ford bit of programming, all the way back to the Scorpio.... pre-dates settings menu's by a long way - which is where you should be going whilst stationary by the magic of the 'i' button to change everything else that is currently annoying you - except the key in reminder

Does anyone know what generates/creates the 'key in ignition' warning chime? Mine has just taken the liberty of developing a dual tone (an even worse sounding backing chime to the usual one), . Also the warranty expires later this month, and although I am considering extending this, I don't think it covers existing problems ( I may be wrong). It is going in for it's 3rd service soon and I really want this sorted then. Any thoughts gratefully received.

The warning chimes are generated by the instrument pack. I have recently lost all my warning chimes and the dealer needs to replace the instument pack to fix the problem. I would get it fixed before the warranty expires as ive been told its expensive to replace (apparently $2500 - $3000 in Aus).

I read or heard somewhere that the door open chime can be cancelled more or less the same as with the seat belt chime by opening and closing the door something like 10 times quickly. I am not sure if it makes a difference if it is the left or right door or if you have to do it from the inside or outside.
If it didn't work, you at least had a good work out.
Mine doesn't give an alarm when opening a door. So it's or broken or switched off.Roel

I drove an MY08 recently and the seat belt chime stopped after a few seconds. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
