Only because they want it to be, trading Standards should be informed.
But don't forget that acording to earlier posts LR have been known to twist the facts about these misbadged cars, so this seller / dealer may only be passing on what he has been told.
Exactly.
If the V5 agrees with the VIN plate, the external badging and the manufacturer, then where's the recourse to Trading Standards?
While most of us know the difference, as we've all pored over the specification, options and costings when buying our own, surely it's down to the bidder to ascertain what exactly he's buying with the vendor, especially when parting with the wrong end of twenty grand? I agree wholeheartedly - but I think we all know the truth here - an innocently placed S letter from the Land Rover parts shop and hey presto 4 or 5 grand more from an unsuspecting newbie - disgraceful I think.
I responded to the berk (who I appreciate may be unsuspecting as well):
"I think somebody has spun you a yarn here - as a long time Discovery fan and S model owner - the spec is very wrong - but hey...who am I to comment.... good luck with the sale and I hope it doesn't come back to bite you !!" 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

This is the reply I got from the seller...
'Thank you for you interest, the car was supplied to us directly from Land Rover as an S model, they state that some of the early models had an update in July 2005. The base model in the range is of course the S for 2006.'
I replied mentioning about the stereo, fog lights, and amongst others the PDC missing, and this is the reply, it seems the seller may be twigging on..
'Thank you for your input, the Land Rover Dealer who delivered the vehicle to us is confused to say the least.
I will take your advice and discuss the situation with the winning bidder, they can then decide whether or not to proceed, that seems right and proper.
Once again, thanks for alerting us.'
I'm gonna watch this one....

I saw that ad on Ebay and thought exactly the same as most of you have indicated (I have only joined Disco3.co.uk today). I initially test drove a Disco3 in Apr of last year and at that time the base models had the 17" wheels and looked exactly the same as the one in the Ebay ad. I ordered and took delivery of an TDV6 S Auto in May 06 knowing that it had the better and bigger wheels and better stereo etc etc. The brochures at the time made this all clear too.
This car must have simply had an 'S' badge stuck onto the boot - disgraceful!

Vectis to do this you need to know each models spec one of the easy ways is the stereo and satnav in this country a S model will have a hi-spec stereo and a SE will have satnav and leather these are just two of the spec list but IMHO they are the easiest to spot and the hardest ior anyone to attempt to change.

How does he reach that figure? Has he just left in the current 'S' spec. price? Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana
