Another happy TC customer...

Based on the oodles of positive feedback on the forum regarding the Turbo Chip upgrade I took the plunge and went for it…. And I have to say, I am impressed with the results!

Before my 56 was averaging around 28mpg (peaking at 28.5mpg when driven softly on motorway runs), and had a significant lag on acceleration.

After Alistair’s mod yesterday I took the car out and the difference in performance was definitely noticeable (and a lot of fun), and on the way into work this morning I sat at 70mph on the motorway for 30 miles and she got up to 31.2mpg. Shocked

The one other noticeable thing is how much more fickle the mpg readings are. Whereas before the computer readings wouldn’t fluctuate much (I was often sat there looking at it wandering how frequently the reading was supposed to refresh), whereas now it is up and down like a yoyo….. one burst of permagrin acceleration and she starts to fall sharply. Stands to reason though I guess.

All in all, well chuffed with the upgrade!

With the forum discount it totals around £620

And yes, i got my seats done by seat surgeons south.... went for soft black leather with grey stitching (to match the black/chrome body styling), and it REALLY sets the car off perfectly (i can't believe the original owners opted for cloth seats before).

And just to finish off my little spending spree, i bought one of the billetted alloy chrome side grills to replace the plastic old thing.

Fair bit of expenditure in the last couple of weeks, but well happy wit hthe results! Thumbs Up

If you reset the trip computer, the mpg will fluctuate wildly for a few miles then settle again, perhaps it was reset when the tune was done?

Yes, the computer was reset to '0' as part of the upgrade, and it slowly had to come back up, which it now has.

What i mean is the way it fluctuates now, for example, if i put my foot down a little to increase the permagrin withing 20-30 seconds the counter will start to drop 0.1mpg at a time, whereas before i used to see a much slower variation.

Stands to reason though I guess as it will be using more fuel to get that extra uuumph when being a bit heavy footed.
