Another LR Extended or WD question?

Ok, I confess - I've been through all the topics and just confused myself. Smile

My D4 HSE is just coming up to three years old in June so off to have a service and thorough MOT check at Lancaster Reading in three or so weeks. They've quoted me for LR extended warranty as

12months extended warranty on its own £855 or 10x monthly payments of £85.50
12 months extended warranty with breakdown/ assistance £1,005 or 10x monthly payments of £100.50

Warranty Direct (pre haggling) are at £858 for Luxurycare based on coverage for main dealer labour charges.

The car has only 16k on it and I suspect will get traded in when it hits its fourth birthday so I don't think i'll need the advantage WD gives of multi year cover.

I'm tempted to stick with in house LR Extended for a year given the relatively small difference in price. Generally speaking does that make sense and have they ever been know to negotiate on price?

Just because of the fantastic service I've received from them in the past few years, and especially in the last few days, I recommend WD without hesitation.

Thumbs Up

Especially LuxCare level. If keeping the car think hard about getting 3 years of cover. Thumbs Up

If your planning on getting rid of it next year I wouldn't bother! Save the money!

I wouldn't go without a warranty, not on a Land Rover, not for 12 months, not even for 3!!! Rolling with laughter

I have the LR Extended warranty - no negotiation available, wasn't when I tried anyway. I have called upon it twice in 2 years on my MY12, both times warranty paid, no questions, and both would have cost me more than the annual warranty if I had had to pay to be fixed.

LR extended for me. WD won't provide any cover at all for a vehicle that gets used anywhere except on tarmac (I asked).

I've got my money's worth every year from the warranty and it's MOT insurance. The other big bonus with LR assist vs other breakdown service is the priority repairs at the dealer with a similar loan car.

The last time I had a problem that needed LR assist, if I'd tried to book in at the dealer myself and get the car there it would have been 6 weeks before they could book me in with a courtesy car. Because LR assist booked me in, I got a D4 courtesy car same day and my car back fixed 2 days later. No paperwork to do, nothing to pay. Thumbs Up

Fantastic, thanks all, seems for year 4 anyway it's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other with WD pulling ahead if you want to keep the car and get 3 yrs coverage with no off road and LR in good shape if you take LR assist cover as well only needing it for a year.

Don't forget the wear and tear though - does LR cover this?

I've had old failed parts replaced with new LR originals at the main dealer and never had to pay anything. Even parts like suspension arms / bushes that have "failed" (i.e. worn out). Obviously they only cover service items like brakes if there is an actual fault e.g. the disks warp (which mine have and so I got a new set under warranty). Thumbs Up

I suppose the exception is that my car failed its last MOT with corroded brake pipes and excessive play in an upper rear arm. These were replaced under the MOT failure insurance, so I had to pay a £75 excess on that job.

It is doable - I went nearly five years without extended warranty on my last D3 and fortunately it never bit me for anything more than wheel bearings in that time - I was only doing about 6,000 miles a year mind
