Its not coming in from the cowl on your D4.IF it was the pollen filter would be wet. It's from either the end of the sunroof drain or corner that is rot or cracked on the side of the pillar. You will have to replace and check that drain on that corner. Take care of it ASAP or you will begin to encounter key issues plus others electric issues.

I wish I could have another option, all I’ve done is tape the bottom of the screen and it’s not been wet since, and we’ve had some typically English weather. Been lining the footwell and under the carpets with paper and it’s been dry.
I’ve ordered a new scuttle and new a Pilar clips so I’ll pull it all out and check for damage or anything that looks dodgy and going to put hose pipe on to try and get water in with the carpets up and paper down!

Sun roof drain on your driver side. Its probably been leaking and now its large leak. Open sun roof pour a bit of water in the little sun roof drain on your driver side and you will see it on your rug. Somewhere along that sun roof drain pipe there is a clog or one of the elbows or the last end of the pipe is cracked or rotted. We had that issue on my girls D3.

See page one. I have tried pouring water down the sunroof and it’s all stayed dry inside ...

I have checked the sunroof drain and it all looks ok, it’s not a star end but just a round fixing. I poured loads of water in and it drained out just as fast, did overwhelm them and had a little overflow into the cab
The car has been parked up most of the day and I don’t seem to have any more water entering the car, so it must have been my scuttle panel that I have taped up.
These papers have been in most of the morning and are all dry. We have had rain and snow most of the day.

Glad you've sorted it, however isn't that trim just a finisher rather than a seal? There must be a gap underneath the panel that is letting in the water?

I looked the best I could, and couldn't see an entry point - my only worry is its had a replacement windscreen and that isn't bonded right - but a long time before i owned it.
My other thought would be A pillar clips, but I didnt get any water in when I taped over the seal?

Just to add to this. I had the usual soaking footwell. Found this discussion really helpful. I thought that I had a similar solution ie the scuttle join.
However after further investigation it turns out that the rubber seal round the engine (which also attaches to the scuttle) seems to have come away from the scuttle. Water was getting into the 'well' and collecting which has cables coming out from the drivers side. One of the grommets (about 2-3cm from the bottom of the well) surrounding the cable wasn't there so when the water level in the 'well' is sufficiently high it just pours into the driver footwell.

Hi
Hope u didn’t mind but wished to also add to this discussion
As I’ve currently got the scuttle panel off for painting I was concerned just in case water was getting in
Found everything dry , apart from a very small amount on the drivers side , as it was raining heavy I thought it was an ideal time to have another look
Done both A pillar blanks, stuck it down with some clear silicone
So used a cheap old camera I got off eBay , searched into the A pillars through each small clip hole
Checked the route of water and was curious where it went that goes through the scuttle panel when it rains
Can see by the looks of it water drains via each corner
So after some further digging I think I found my intermittent ingress if water on the drivers side , the rubber seal isn’t fitted properly which u can see water run down the panel
Hope it’s of some use
First set of pics are where the water drains away when rain goes through the scuttle panel and into the channel , wiper motor isnin the same place
Inside of A pillars , bone dry
Pic down the drivers door jam , Bingo , this is the door loom seal that’s not fitted correctly , allowing water get past

Having water in passenger footwell issues. Noticed this comment in the thread.
“Then check behind the air pillar trim in the footwell, the tubing may have come away from the bodywork as it uses a gromit/plug to hold it in place”
I think it should say A pillar trim . How do I do that?
Any information gratefully received
ThanksGary
