It was a different color actually, blue. I only had to put about 0.2 litre in after i mixed it with water. Looked at it before i set off this morning and the colour is still orange in the tank. Strange. '05 Discovery TDV6 S+ Commercial, Zambezi Silver, Ebony Black Cloth.

Mine was low and I had the 'Low Coolant' message, drove into a LR dealer and got it topped up for free. Message hasn't come back since this was done. I didn't check it when it I picked it up, assumed the dealer would have done (now knowing what they're like I doubt it!) but I'd done over 4000 miles before the warning came on The End

Unless you all know something I don't about the prospects for a winter chill, just topping up the coolant with water will do little to reduce the overall antifreeze/water mix effectiveness.

Fanta or Robinsons Barley Water?
My point was that just topping up with water is going to do zippo to your antifreeze protection in the UK - even down to -20.

Very true, unless it's a emergency fill up to get you home (or the nearest place selling antifreeze) the correct stuff should always be used. It's a'summer coolant' too so just water is no good in hot conditions either The End

Winger's right though, topping up with water occasionally won't do any harm, as long as the right coolant is added now and again although it's generally good practice to drain out and replace coolant at least every 18 months or less - standing by to be informed of the Disco 3 coolant replacement interval

Talked to the dealer this morning, they said its not a problem doing a top up with another antifreeze. Told me to keep an eye on the levels and get back to them if it drops again as it should not be loosing coolant like that. I have a hunch that the coolant was low from the start and i only noticed it after i got that coolant warning.
I find the LR dealer here quiet helpful, rang them a few times over the past 3 weeks with questions and they were more than happy to help me. Big change from Audi i can tell u.
Big thanks to everyone who gave me advise, shame im on the wrong side of the Irish sea, as id be buying pints at the next offroad weekend. '05 Discovery TDV6 S+ Commercial, Zambezi Silver, Ebony Black Cloth.
