Anyone seen the aux battery compartment in a MY14 D4 yet?

Hi Folks and has anyone in the UK or Europe, got a MY14 D4 and had a chance to have a look in the auxiliary battery compartment.

The battery compartment is on the driver’s side, in either a left or right hand drive version of a MY14 D4.

In the Australian version, they have moved everything around and the compartment can once again be used to mount an auxiliary battery in.

Here is a photo of the Australian version.

From memory, yes, it's identical in UK.

It's a small battery so no idea what it's for as it can't be for starting the car. Question
It's roughly the same size as a bike battery.

Its the stop start stuff to keep everything running saving the main battery for restart etc

You will see the main power feed cables running above the engine to it.

Some serious stuff...shame they couldn't fit the battery box properly from new.

Does the MY14 aux battery have an Ah or CCA marked on it?

Might it not be possible to replace the standard stop/start battery with a suitably sized battery, that could also be used as an auxiliary battery?

Obviously you would still have to move some stuff around.

I would wonder about bug ge ring up a system that's probably carefully balanced and charge monitored?

I also think that might not be the best of ideas.

To tamper with that battery would be classified as making alterations to the vehicle and as such Land Rover would be in their rights to void the warranty and as LRA tend to do that at the drop of a hat over here, ( even when legitimate problems occur ) it would just make their day.

As long as a dual battery system is nothing more than an “ADD-ON” and does not impede the vehicle’s operation, they have no legitimate grounds to complain.

It looks like the auxiliary battery will have to go back into the rear cargo area again.
