Anyone have a TransK9 dog box for their disco?
I just took delivery of my new D4 8) , and I am now having second thoughts about just using hatchbag liners and guard/gate - just seems such a shame to cover those lovely new windows etc with dog snot.
If you have a Transk9, perhaps you could tell me...
- does it reduce visibility to the point where your rear view mirror is redundant?
- does it affect MPG as it's a heavy piece of kit, I'm told?
- is it like putting the dogs in a microwave oven in the summer?

Awesome bit of kit. Had one for my D2 and one for this.
Silent - no rattles. Excellent build quality. Lockable - your dogs won't get stolen. Has a divider to separate them. Brilliant at stopping mud/water flying all around the roof lining. Dogs are much safer in an accident.
- does it reduce visibility to the point where your rear view mirror is redundant? You lose some visibility - but you can still see people behind.
- does it affect MPG as it's a heavy piece of kit, I'm told? No - it's aluminium and not that heavy.
- is it like putting the dogs in a microwave oven in the summer? Surprisingly not

I use Gamehawker boxes for the birds, but they also do dog boxes, bespoke if you need a drawer fitted etc. Much lighter than the aluminium ones, as these are completely polypropylene, so very easy to clean out and disinfect.

After the srringer pups chewed the seat belts in the back.I bought two of these,(Seeland Transport Box for Dogs)If you look on Uttings web site under dog training you should find them. The pups are almost full grown now and they have loads of room. They collapse and then only go in the D3 when we take the pupswith us.
Enjoy your new Toy Just when I thought I knew all lifes answers they went and changed the bloody questions
emer,
I picked one up for Shau [SJ] last year from Aberdeen and ran it down to Scotch corner for him to pick up and what an awesome piece of kit. Great quality manufacture and design and fitted snugly in the D3 with about 2" to spare on the sides. Very Impressive. Drop him a PM I'm sure he won't mind. He does work offshore so if you don't get an answer he may be on the platform. Regards, Trev.

In the wilds of North Lincs or the middle of the North Sea.
I have a similar for my dog in the back of the car.
As John C mentioned it's a very good bit for the transport of a dog.
I've worked for 12 years as a dog handler by the Police in Luxembourg. We also used some boxes for the transport of our dogs.
I will recommend to all dog owners to use a box for a safe transport.
My dog box also has an emergency door to the front of the car if, by mistake another car hit me at the back and the rear door can't be opened, so I can take the dog out of the car by this way.
The Lintran is also a very good option.
The custom fit Disco 3 box gives the dogs loads of room in the back, but keeps them safe

thanks everyone. the Lintran doesn't look as nice, but has greater visibility... so that's a big plus. I like my rear view mirror (contrary to male opinion of female drivers), so this is a good thing.

Without starting controversy, Lintran market the coolness of the box in summer compared to green, black and other darker colours. On their demo white is far far cooler, Lintran also do a collapsable one now, I haven't looked at it closely but may be worth investigating.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

thanks Pelyma, that definitely sounds good.
how much did you pay for this, Snowy? does it have an emergency escape door in the back?
can you tether it securely to the loadspace thingies?

I have got a lintran db9 and lintrans custom solid wood draws in my D3, they fit a treat with room to get into the side compartments (jack etc).
Rear visability is ok as I paid extra for an escape hatch, I can see everything in the mirror although it is looking through the bars.
I have 2 english spingers and they fit into the crate ok with plenty of room to move around, sit up etc.
Pricey, approx £1000 for the lot but well worth it, highly recomended so much so we are getting another set for the wifes legacy.
Hope this helps.

Snowy, does it tether down to the loadspace? How long did it take to get delivery? Is there side ventilation strips too, giving you some visibility out of your rear windows? How much did they charge you for it?
Thanks all, this is really, really helpful thread.

Done. Have ordered a lintran, only with mesh sides as well as back, and with a solid top to reflect the sun from the rear sunroof.
Hatchbag were lovely and cancelled my order once I explained that I didn't want the dogs snotting on my windows/roof.
So, now have to sell my Barjo tailgate and my half-height dog guard. I'll pm the vulture
