And yet people blame the brokers / insurers for not wanting to insure Land Rovers. Rolling Eyes

Land Rover have really messed up with their poor security. Whilst mine isn’t on the list I’m going to fit a ghost 2 to my Defender and daughters Discovery Sport for any visits to London etc.

We will just have to ride it out, hopefully ditch/upgrade the keyless entry/starting & it should settle down.

In five or so years electric cars will be being stolen en-masse for the batteries as they start o fail in older cars.

Or the value of the metal content of the battery. I suspect we'll also see more fires because of it as they bodge the removal. We can but hope it incinerates some of the thieving scroates.

Ghost 2 a must. First thing fitted on our BMW X545e..... but insurance doesn't take any account of it.

I know the code and it defeats me 10% of the time... Censored

Personally, I prefer the visual deterrent, a disclok may not be 100% secure but if it makes them move on to an easier target or make enough noise to wake me then so much the better. Whilst Ghost is very good from what I hear, they may well have already cut a hole in my tail gate and trashed it before realising they cant start it.

Yep the Ghost stickers are abysmal so I they wont know until they gain access to the vehicle that its all in vain.

Ghosts are a great product, wish they'd put it through the research centre so it can be Thatcham Categorised and recognised by insurers.
Insurers look for (generally speaking) Thatcham Category 5,5s,7 or 7s when it comes to trackers - these have GPS fuctioning. If a tracker is required for insurance it's likely to one of those categories needed.

Any visual deterrent is good because one thing theives want is a fast steal, anything that's going to add to their time where they increase chances of being caught is a good option even for own peace of mind. Disc locks, parking bollards (although owners often forget they have them so don't reverse into it lol) CCTV cameras whether real or decoy...
