United Kingdom 2009 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 XS Auto Ipanema SandDiscovery 4

well after an hour long chat with the dealership(Stratstone, for the first time) they managed to get me into a range rover sport as opposed to the freelander i originally had.

They have been quite helpful I must say and have really pushed land rover into giving me some answers and compensation as well.

The long and short of it been that the car is supposed to take no more than 2 weeks to be rectified, all going according to plan that is. If that is the case, I have managed to squeeze out the first 3 year's services for free Very Happy

If the car is however going to be any longer than time will come for the rejection unfortunately. Where I go from there I am not sure......let's hope I don't need to get to that.

Thanks for all the tips guys it is much appreciated.

Having successfully rejected a new Disco before (for paintwork defects), I suggest you do the following. Send a letter to the Dealer Principal (and finance company) rejecting the vehicle referring to sales of goods act. You have to give them the chance to rectify the problem to your satisfaction however, make it clear (and agree with Dealer Principal in writing) that if your vehicle fails again for the same reason, you money will be returned straight away or a new like for like replacement car is provided.

Our car was replaced for a new car. I went through the same process for a friend who brought a new 911 PDK. The gearbox failed after a few days, rejection letter sent, car fixed with written agreement that there would be a full refund if the gearbox failed again. It did 2 weeks later, vehicle collected and a full refund provided.

If nothing else, it will keep your dealer on their toes.

Good Luck, D

Please be aware that you only have a short time period to reject a vehicle, so I suggest you start the process now. In the end, you may not continue with the rejection process however, you are putting yourself is a stronger position if the problem persists.

thanks D, I have basically done the first step already with the dealer principal on tuesday so the ball is rolling and they( Landrover are aware that if the vehicle is not sorted within the 2 week period, the vehicle will be rejected and i will ten take it from there.

Cheers,M

Mamba - it's the written correspondence between you and the dealer (not the dealer & landrover) that is vital to the rejection process (addicted to nurburgring's notes are very useful in setting this process out & you might also want to nip in to see your solicitor for specific advice!) as your purchase contract is with the dealer & not LR (although there is a separate issue of the warranty which is between you & LR. Wink )

How is the D4 going? We to had a problem with our new one after 800k. A greabox fault came up and th car engine stalled. After 1 and a half days of testing, the problem came down to fuel pressure?????? After reading your thread, we are hoping for the car to come back to us all fixed up and ready to be driven may miles.
