Impressive stuff. I guess driver skill must come into this as I am not sure I could have managed that on standard road tyres.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Most would be exceptionally surprised tbh ...I spent the first year or so going to events with roadies on ...rarely stopped me getting anywhere. If I can do it anyone can 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I would imagine that they have all been bitten by poisonous snakes or eaten by crocodiles.CGA
Me too LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Exactly, I'm certainly no off-road driving God, but I've learnt that certain types of mud will clog even the most aggressive MT tyres. So I eventually sold my set of Goodyear MTR's and have been running Pirelli ATR's for years now. I sometimes slip and slide a bit more than I would if I had MT's on, but I've always get to where I want to go (so far anyway). With practice and some LRE training over the past 8 years, I've come to realise that correct use of the vehicle TR system etc. is more important than tyre choice.
I never actually got stuck with the o/e fit Scorpion Zero's on my D3 either, but I had a couple of close shaves, particularly when going though muddy narrow gateways.
The D3/4 is incredibly capable on all terrains, regardless of what tyres are fitted. One reason why the subject of tyres is so emotive!2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
