Auto Folding Mirrors on Lock/unlock

Hello all,

I know this topic has come up before and people have done it but you have to have the auto-Lock switched off. I have been looking at the wiring diagrams and would like suggest an option.

I have an O7 HSE D3 2.7litre.

However, I need someone much better at electrics, than me, to say if it is possible.

If you look at the wiring diagram for the mirrors (501-09 page 200) the downward press from the mirror control switch is pin 8 on connector C0066. This connects to pin 2 on the Fold Back Module (D197) connector C0907L.

So if you put a signal onto this pin then then D197 thinks it is getting a fold/unfold signal and will fold or unfold the mirrors.

The next problem is where do get that signal from?

When you lock the car the red LED flashes on the dash, the signal for that come from pin 22 from connector C0580 on the Junction Box Central (P101). So can we use that signal to trick the Fold Back Module into thinking it has a fold signal to fold the mirrors when you lock the car.

When you unlock the car the flashing LED goes out and so there must be a signal from P101 to stop the flashing. This must be from the same pin and so this would provide the signal to unfold the mirrors?

Does that seem sensible to any of the electronics people out there?

You can take signal from fuel flap C0582-2 and C0582-3

You can’t use the dash light.

Fuel flap sounds promising.

Hello,

Many thanks for the advice.

I quite like the Alarm LED option as the cables seems easier to get to. Is the signal too small or short to trigger the Fold/unfold module? If so then that doesn't matter as I was going to use that alarm signal as a trigger to generate an appropriate signal for the fold/unfold module, from some circuitry.

Google, and some of my 40 year old text books, informs me I need a MonoStable circuit to produce an appropriate signal which then has a trigger input.

My plan is to get to the fold/unfold module and press the control button down and see what the signal is at the module, I'm assuming it is a +ve 5v (ish) signal or perhaps a ground signal to activate the relay.

Does anyone know or am I completely wrong, which sadly won't be the first time!

Many thanks for the diagram, it will come in very useful.

I tried to take the mirror switch out tonight but could make it, having done a bit of research I think you need to take the door card off first.

Sadly the third brake light is leaking more now so need to try and do that first.

Its all go when you own a Land Rover Very Happy
