Auto Protect Warranty

got an Auto Protect Warranty with the new-old D4 HSE we bought.

http://www.autoprotect.co.uk/mechanical-breakdown-insurance

the brakes seemed a little bit spongy - but worked well. Took it into Dealers on Friday and looks like it could fix the problem with a new Brake servo. All OK'd under warranty. turns out the Dealer can do repairs upto £3000 without requiring authorisation Shocked Thumbs Up

anyone else used AutoProtect ?

Yep,

I'm with Autoprotect and they have done us well.
Had a new Alternator fitted without the need for pre-authorisation. It was in the garage; Diagnosed, fitted and returned to me within 4 hours. The excess was even waived (I don't know why, the guy at the garage seemed stumped)

They also paid for a recent air con condenser and some suspension bits. They will quite happily pay the rates of my local and very well respected Indie and even after paying out on over £2k worth of stuff this year they rang me 2 weeks ago offering a very hefty discount on renewal if I took out 2 years worth of policy.

One thing I found very good is that they will continue to cover you at higher mileage too, which Warranty Direct wouldn't give me. Once over 105k if you agree to a service every 6,000 miles they'll continue to give you the highest level of cover, which covers everything except for items specifically listed on the policy.

2 Years cost me £915 if paid over the first 10 months and I'm pretty confident it'll cover most things.

The only thing they wont cover is on High Mileage cars (Over 105k I think it is) is anything after the first £5000 of a claim for a single component.
I'm still waiting for them to clarify what happens if the engine goes bang and if this counts as one component.

It says unlimited mileage, any cut off for age/start miles. Might have a good look at this when WD runs out next summer. Thumbs Up

PS Embarassed Embarassed just seen the 105k bit. Sad

Mikey,

I asked that question specifically and was told yes, Gearboxes and Transfer boxes etc are all covered.
The cover is for new replacement items and fitting, not reconditioning too which is a bonus as one company I spoke to said a recon is a first option if available.

I've only had to use them 3 times but they've never said no, only things I haven't been covered for are the Suspension Bushes and other bits which I wanted doing as a precaution.

where does it say about 105K miles. all I can find is :

Quote:
Are there any mileage restrictions?

AutoProtect warranties allow for an unlimited number of valid repairs to be made with no limits on the annual mileage you drive. We do not have upper mileage limits so you won’t run out of cover.

Not sure what the line is but I was told after 105k miles the level of protection offered would go down to the next level policy, however if I adhered to the servicing schedule of once every 6,000 miles then that they would honour the level of protection until the next renewal.

just back from the dealers a couple of hours ago and they are changing the master brake cylinder, they've updated the infotainment s/w, the instrument cluster s/w and doing a 4 wheel alignment. all under warranty. Thumbs Up

if only they would do wheel bearing changes as a preventative measure Laughing

I am having a great deal of trouble with Autoprotect at the moment, as they insist to say that an EGR valve is not a valve in the engine, therefore it is not covered.

Also, on previous service they have told my workshop they were sending their own part (instead of letting them buy a new one). My shop said the part was very likely second hand.

absolutely money catchers

I would absolutely not recommend it.
