Automatic gearbox

On my D4 whenever I select drive the vehicle slowly moves forward. On my other vehicle which is an auto this doesn't happen.
Is this a "characteristic" of these vehicles? The engine tick over is set to around 700rpm.
Any ideas or have I got a gearbox issue?

It's called creep and is inherent in all automatic vehicles. Some are less responsive, you need some throttle to move, some are more responsive and you need to hold it back on the brakes.

You've also got an engine capable of producing 600Nm of torque, whereas previous vehicles may have produced less.

Finally, if you apply the handbrake the car wont move, the D4 has EPB which you don't need to apply so once you're in D, you can move away. If you do apply the EPB, when you apply the throttle it will auto release the EPB.

Thanks for your help. It does seem to creep forward rather quickly so I guess I will just have to use the handbrake..
