Automatic lighting

Hello everybody,
I own a new Disco3 SE and I would like to know if it is possible to increase the sensitivity of the sensor used to automatically switch on the lights when for instance entering a tunnel.
In the present configuration the lights are switched on way too late and sometimes I'm almost out of the tunnel when the car decides to switch on the lights, which of course doesn't make much sense.
Recently I drove a Freelander 2 in which the automatic lighting system worked MUCH better.
Thanks in advance for any comments !

I know the main sensor is built into the windscreen, but does it also look at the ambient light hitting the other sensor at the bottom of the speedo? (ie. use both for headlights) I ask because I'm sure I can alter the sensitivity of the headlight switch by putting my hand over the bottom of the speedo.

or maybe I'm just imagining it...
or maybe I should just use the switch...
or shut-up now.

Sorry - I meant rev counter (the one on the left)
I must read the manual!

The two white dots as shown here...

You put your other hand out of the open window and around to cover the middle of the windscreen - you might have to open the door to do this so watch for traffic !

One of them is the indicator light to show the alarm is set, don;t know about the other though.

Put your hand over it and the satnav dims / lights come on (when dark enough outside?) - I often have to do this when the satnav is too bright after starting at night, because it takes a little time to adjust on it's own.

Is is not just as easy and requires less concentration to flip the switch to manual ?, but then if your in a tunnel you have to remember to switch it off again, so I guess not.

Thanks to all for the great feedback, but whatever sensor may trigger the lights, it takes too much time before the lights are switched on. Doesn't anybody else have this problem ?

Doing it manually may be a way, but why doesn't it work as it should in a Discovery 3, when it works p e r f e c t l y well in a Freelander 2 ?

a bit OT but since you mention it... I can't tell a difference in the brightness of my satnav between daytime and nighttime. Is there a setting I can change to make it dim more?

Press....
Right hand hard key > Settings > Screen Settings > Contrast

You can save 2 separate settings (1 for night and 1 for day)

There must be a way to alter the sensitivity. I had a new instrument pack installed recently and now my lights are toooooo sensitive and come on when I go under a wide bridge and then off again when I emerge. Before the new pack, the lights seemed to wait a few seconds before realising that lights were necessary... must be a dealer change though Question
What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!

It would be useful to change the sensitivity.

I found that the lights would not react quick enough for the mountain tunnels in the Alps, on the short tunnels I would be halfway though before they came on, had to back to the old way with the switch.
